HTC’s 5 inch behemoth that’s been rumored in recent weeks got more leaked specs over the weekend, and now we have even more information to sink our teeth into. Instead of the usual blurrycam goodness we’ve come to know, love, and hate over the years, press shots have now been leaked.
The device looks quite close to what we’ve seen leaked so far, and if the rest of this image is to be believed we finally have a possible name: the HTC One X 5, the last character obviously indicative of the device’s screen size.
If you don’t remember, HTC is said to be bringing a 5 inch slate that has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and more.
The device is a strong candidate for a good showing at HTC’s upcoming September 19th event, though there has been little official word to suggest this is exactly what we’ll see. The wait is only two days longer, though, so get back over to Phandroid.com this Wednesday for live coverage straight from New York. [via Engadget]
UPDATE: Turns out the press shot is a fake. Well, not intentionally fake, but more or less a concept image conjured up by the mind of Dannix over on Flickr. Good work. Almost had us fooled. He has a pretty sick concept of an HTC tablet, if you guys wanna take a look. [Flickr]

I wish this was a Nexus. HTC really knows how to make nice hardware.
IMHO, way too much bezel for a 5″ screen. If I were gonna get a phablet, I’d rather get the note 2 and have the stylus with enhanced capabilities.
I sort of agree. The only thing attracting me is the 1080p resolution and the chance for a quad core S4 which will make it faster than the Galaxy Note 2. But the S-pen and bigger screen will come in handy for work.
If HTC had some type of stylus like they had in the HTC flyer I would be all over this. And I can almost guarantee that Galaxy Note 3 will have a newer gen quad and a 1080p display. What else is left?
I, for one, am extremely excited to get HTC Sense 4.0 on a Verizon device with a great screen size (4 inch Droid Incredible 4G LTE is not for me).

If anyone is going to beat the galaxy note 2, there is going to have to more effort that this.
why are phone makers making phones bigger and bigger i want a good phone but dont want a huge screen 4.5″ is enough
the screens are getting bigger but the bezels are being minimized, compare a Lumia 920 to a galaxy S3 for instance, the S3 with a 4.8 inch screen and the Lumia with 4.5, yet they are both about the same size.
Because everyone has a different preference. That’s what is awesome about every mobile os besides iOS. I personally am impatient waiting on picking up the note 2
