Oppo breaks boundaries with the 1080p, 5-inch Find 5

79

Oppo may not be in your list of manufacturers while looking for a new phone, but the company is trying to make a name for itself. The company is mostly known for making the thinnest phone, the 6.5 mm thin Oppo Finder. Now Oppo Mobile is taking the spotlight by being one of the first to feature a 1080p display in a smartphone.

According to Oppo Mobile CEO Chenming Yong, the Oppo Find 5 is going to have a 1080p display with a stunning 441 ppi pixel density. After making a few calculation, the result is a large 5-inch screen, meaning the Oppo Find 5 is aiming to compete against devices like the Galaxy Note 2 and the rumored HTC “phablet.”

The device continues to be impressively thin, measuring 6.65 mm, just like its predecessor. It is said to be the thinnest quad-core smartphone. Oh yeah, it has a powerful quad-core S4 Pro processor. Other details are scarce at the moment, but we can expect this to be one powerful device.

Who knows, maybe soon Oppo will make it to the big leagues and we might be seeing some of these devices hitting our carriers. Would you give the Oppo Find 5 a chance?

  1. I’m sorry but according to blind and below average mental capacity consumers that looks like an Iphone you will need to redesign the phone please.

    1. What?????

      1. He’s being cheeky. And has poor grammar.

        1. Thats a goddamned impressive run on sentence I like how he pressed forward despite the fact that the keyboard he is using has no punctuation I give credit where credit is due

          1. Rofl what’s funny is that your sentence is even worse.

          2. I think that was the point…

          3. what you did there, i see it.

  2. Wow that’s a gorgeous looking phone. Only thing that concerns me is with it essentially having no bezel how will it operate when ones holding it?

    1. hold the side and back of it? i don;t know many people who actually grip their fingers around to the front of the screen when using their phones.

      1. Hey to say it, but you’re right. When I hold my phone, I can see that I won’t be touching the screen. But then this brings up another issue. Cases.

      2. No, but people think that they grip their fingers around the front for some reason. I don’t know, it’s like everyone wants new and improved, but they don’t recognize when something actually is new and improved until several others tell them it is.

      3. The problem isn’t your fingertips, it’s your palm. Hold your phone in one hand, and reach over to the opposite side. Odds are, the meat of your palm gets real close to the screen. That’s why the bezel is there, to prevent errant touches there. Not fingertips so much.

        1. Never thought about that. I don’t think id have that probe on a 4.7 inch phone but I suppose that could be a bigger issue on a,5+ inch phone.

          1. Yeah, I it all really depends. I can easily use large phones like this, but I know someone that returned the infuse because they had that problem on the 4.5″ screen. Lower the bezel and increase screen size and it becomes more of a problem. It’s a balance, and different for everyone.

    2. Hey Motorola! This is what we’re talking about!

  3. I’m huge HTC fan, but might consider if the specks are right, I would like 5 incher but not sold for Samsung.

    1. We just talked about the 1080p HTC phablet. We’re more likely to get that than Oppo

    2. Agreed…..

  4. If they had this on Verizon, I’d jump on this in a heart beat.

  5. I would love this!! Although Apple will sue them to oblivion if they come any where near North America.

    1. Don’t worry, Apple can’t ban eBay :D

      1. Here…Here…

  6. don’t know this brand but niiiiiice – )

    1. Oppo is best known for their high end blu-ray players

  7. Impressive, they got my attention

  8. >Numb/Encore
    >Eminem

    Looks legit guys.

    1. Eminem cross over Linkin Park!

      1. No, it’s not.

  9. If it came to one of the US Carriers, I would consider giving it a spin !

  10. This looks more like an iPhone than any Samsung phone (bar the s1)
But it looks dang sexy. But specs are everything. I love Samsung’s software and would get the note 2 over this.

  11. Prepare to be sued…

    1. Ha!!! Damn it! You beat me to it.

  12. Sweet……… I…… Love…… Competition!!!!!!

See what a free market and competition can produce……. EXACTLY WHAT APPLE…. F-E-A-R-S!!!!!!! THIS WILL CAUSE APPLE TO SOUR…… WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO SEE THE F%$CKERS FACES AT APPLE WHEN THEY HAVE THEIR NEXT CRY-BABIES’ MEETING AND TALK ABOUT THIS PHONE ON MONDAY…… DON’T YOU THINK THEY WILL POOP IN THEIR DIAPERS……

    1. 1. Stop everything you’re doing
      2. Rip out your keyboard’s Caps lock key
      3. Post again. O_o

      1. Ooo!! I accidentally -1 your status. LoL!!

  13. OMG a phucking 5 incher with a high pixel density? Not bad I must say….now the one and ONLY reason I would still buy the galaxy note 2 is because of the stylus and supported apps it has. Take that away and I would buy the oppo finder 5 anyone knows when it will release?

  14. Is it coming with ICS or jb?

  15. It will never be allowed to come to the States with those rounded corners! And strike 2 is that its a black rectangle.

  16. I would why not…. If they act right, not like Apple try to control everything.

  17. If I could Find an Oppo-site to my Samsung. Get it? Oh snap!

  18. Think About It…..

At the rate of improvements to the Iphoney, and with their present strategy to bleed their Loyal Sheep with incremental improvements, it would take 10 years for Iphoney to produce a phone like this…. Isn’t the Iphone 6 planned for release at Christmas?

  19. I would definitely like to find out more about it cause it looks pretty sweet. Will it have LTE on it is a big question.

  20. zhooooooong guo is gonna rule the world !

  21. You forgot it has a 2500 mAH battery and Jelly Bean :)

  22. Lol, iPhone was what? Thinnest? Retina Display? Lol. Try again Apple.

    1. Yeah specs are there, but I’m pretty sure it wont be nearly as fluid and efficient as the iPhone, no matter how much it tries to look like it lol

      1. This looks nothing like the iPhone.

  23. that is one awesome looking phone! could definitely see myself rolling with that.

  24. for a fare price i suppouse it could stand against the known ones

  25. I have been wondering who would take use of that 5″ 1080p screen first (LG wasn’t it that made it?).. I would totally buy if they got rid of the capacities buttons in favor of soft-keys, and if it didn’t look like an iPhone wanna-be. This is pathetic.. it looks like a ripoff, despite having totally unique internals and I’m sure even some creative software.. Why they think styling the shell like that is .. ugh. They ruined it for me.

  26. Yeah I’ll give it a go. I mean if they’re making a name for themselves, then we should definitely see this coming over here. I’ll wait for this. It certainly looks beautiful.

  27. I remember when phones where just … phones.

  28. God why do they have to make it look like the iPhone??!?!?!?

    1. The corners are larger radius than an iPhone, no home button, and the camera lens is waaay bigger than an iPhone. It’s also wider looking than an iPhone.

      1. But seriously… the top part looks like it was chopped right off an iPhone. Plus the black slab with silver band aesthetic is only giving Apple more ammunition.

  29. next apple suing phone !

  30. I fell in love with this the moment I saw it. Some might say it looks like an iPhone, but there is something about the image of this phone that screams “look at me! I look like the iPhones physical superior and I am the more powerful phone!”

    It just looks so inviting.

  31. why are all these break throughs coming from manufacturers that i’ve never heard of? >.> and it looks like the iPhone XD

  32. Phone looks awesome! I “MAY” check it out!!!

  33. Anyone knows when the oppo finder 5 will release? If yes will it sell on amazon.com or amazon.co.uk?

  34. i need to see pictures of this beast in the wild.

  35. like the screen size and the quad core but that’s bout it looks too much like iPhone for my liking and would have to come with jelly bean for sure

  36. Looks pretty close to an iPhone. Personally, I think I’ll be happy with the Galaxy Note 2, put everything else on hold for a few months. Android is always the same. Constantly evolving, and a new phone is always catching my eye. I’ll let this one pass. I don’t know anything about the company, so I can’t say that the phone will be the greatest experience ever.

  37. We dont know much about Oppo yet. It does look VERY similar to the iphone. How do we know that Oppo is not a quiet subsidiary of Apple vying for there own piece of the Android market. I could see them doing something like that. Keep your friends close, your enemies closers, and your enemies friends the closest.

    1. We know a lot about Oppo. Best DVD/Bluray player manufacturer out there. Firmware updates based on customer feedback and only the best audio/video processors go into their players. They have been around for a while and only put out top notch products. I won’t be surprised if this phone is the same as there other electronics.

  38. I’m not buying a phone that will be accused of being an iCopy, even if it bests the iPhone in every way.

  39. HELL YES

  40. I’m interested… Looks very nice, too bad it’s so big. I’m a phandroid for life but I’m going to have to find more exotic sources for my phone if everyone is going to move 5″+…. I’m happy with 4″ even. I might be able to go 4.3 however I don’t see why phablets seem to be all that’s coming out anymore.

    1. Use a galaxy note for only 1 week and you will never go back to a smaller phone. Whenever I try to use a smaller phone I get a headache just looking at it…

  41. Using Obama-logic, Apple didn’t design the IPhone, the government did…. therefore the government owns the patent, and and anyone can use the shareware patent…….

  42. Gorgeous phone. Looks like a next gen iPhone. Hope the specs are legit. But not keeping my hopes up as it looks too good to be true.

  43. why do I want 1080p on a 5 inch screen??…the tv industry says tv’s under 32 inches show no difference from 720p to 1080p when viewed from the same distance..why shouldn’t that apply to phones??

  44. Looks like a nice phone. I’d give it a chance if it were available in the US.

  45. Oh yes…I would definitely give Oppo find5a big chance….I like it a lot…u guys need to send these out soon…thumps up Oppo …like it….!this s far more than a fruit look…far more..to me it’s more a diferent fruit”like a Orange..isn’t that more vitamin ,..it’s more like the Galaxy of stars”&the Oppo is so a twinkling Star….so take note my ppls…

  46. Htc please. It’s my favorite android hardware and software manufacturer. But since I am jumping ship too wp8, it’s a toss up between Nokia and htc.
