Google Drive gets significant upgrade in the Google Play Store

12

Google Drive debuted in the Google Play Store with an impressive set of features, but if you thought Google would stagnate on its progress then you simply don’t know Google. A new upgrade for the application has hit the Google Play Store, and it’s added a lot of desirable features.

You can now sort the contents of a folder by a file type, a better viewing experience for Presentations, basic table support in the editor, the ability to create, reply to, and resolve comments in a document, the ability to change fonts in a document, the ability to print files using Google Cloud Print, and a lot more.

While Google can’t surely make everyone happy in one fell swoop we’d say this is enough of a jump to make you forget about most other cloud storage services available to you. Find the free download in the Google Play Store.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. The organise feature was all I really wanted….the rest is a bonus!

  2. all i want left is offline editing

    1. Not possible.

      1. How would it not be possible. it would require you to download the file and it be synced automatically like the computer (which would be a big waste of space) but it is possible

        1. Good thing our phones hold than half a gig like the old days. haha

  3. Creating a new folder option is amazing! I literally just got done uploading a bunch of pictures then had to move them to the correct folder on my computer…then I came across this blog. Awesome!

  4. How about a thumbnail view of pictures without having to click on them.

  5. This is a great update… if only they spent some time on Google Voice app, so it wouldn’t be so terrible. It’s slow and doesn’t even have the option to keep 1 message thread per contact like every other app.

  6. Still does not work.

After update still useless for me, using quickoffice your documents are read only you are unable to save any documents, but you can when on a windows PC.

I open up a word & excel document on my ANdroid phone, click save & I still get the Directory is not Writable, so Still Useless to me.

When will google fix this I dont want google docs.

  7. Lmao I was just wondering when I would be able to cloud print from the app, now gmail needs this feature in the app and I’m all good

  8. Not useful for me until it supports “save as” to allow a file to saved outside the original folder. Of course dropbox has always allowed this.

  9. More space would be nice…I have almost 11GB on dropbox because of special ways to add more space. Using that over my measly 5GB on google drive.
