16

Motorola has officially announced the Motorola DROID M. They’re calling it a compact, affordable smartphone that doesn’t sacrifice power as is normally the case with phones of this size and price.

The 4.3 inch display will be ideal for those who aren’t a fan of the ever-growing standard of big screen sizes these days, and a nice 2,000mAh battery should deliver decent usage time.

It also has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, an 8 megapixel camera that shoots full HD video, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, NFC, 4G LTE, Android 4.0 (Jelly Bean coming by the end of the year), and more.

Verizon is releasing the device next week for $100, but you can pre-order yours today at 5pm eastern if you’re feeling the need to pounce on this one as soon as you can. We’ll be getting some hands-on time with this thing in a bit, but feel free to read on for the full press details.

Verizon Wireless and Motorola Add Three New and Exclusive 4G LTE DROID RAZR™ Smartphones

All the power, battery life and cool design of DROID RAZR with the speed of 4G LTE three times over

Sept. 05, 2012

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., and LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. – Verizon Wireless and Motorola Mobility today announced that they are adding three new and exclusive smartphones, DROID RAZR M, DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD, to the DROID RAZR by Motorola family on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.

All three devices offer the power and reliability that customers have come to expect from Motorola and Verizon Wireless. DROID devices give customers speed, power and revolutionary technology, while the RAZR design delivers a thin, compact device built with strong, top-of-the-line materials and long-lasting battery life. The new smartphones are powered by the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, giving customers the capability to simultaneously talk and browse the Web and also access the blazingly fast speeds that cover more than 75 percent of the U.S. population. With three brand new options, this lineup has something for everyone.

DROID RAZR M: The Full-Screen Phone
DROID RAZR M is an unbelievably compact smartphone that puts the world in the palm of your hand with an edge-to-edge 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display. Customers will be amazed with the DROID RAZR M’s design, which is significantly shorter and narrower than the original DROID RAZR, yet includes the same size display, making it the most compact 4.3-inch 4G LTE smartphone.

DROID RAZR M also features powerful Web browsing capabilities by combining Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network with the speeds of Chrome for Android mobile browser for an unrivaled mobile Web experience.

The DROID RAZR M’s SMARTACTIONS feature maximizes battery efficiency with every charge, allowing customers to browse the Web and watch videos without worrying about draining their device’s battery.

DROID RAZR HD: Performance and Power
Building on the DROID RAZR legacy, the new DROID RAZR HD expands the innovation with a new 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display that allows movies, photos, magazines and even websites to appear with vivid clarity. DROID RAZR HD provides customers with 78 percent more pixels for a more vibrant display and features 40 percent greater battery capacity than the original DROID RAZR.

The viewdini app is at its best with the HD display and 4G LTE speeds to watch movies, television shows and other video content. Viewdini brings the power of Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network to the screen by streamlining access to videos from a wide range of content providers, including cable operators, websites and other popular video sources. The viewdini app can be downloaded from Google Play.

DROID RAZR MAXX HD: Long Live the Battery
Packed with the same leading features as DROID RAZR HD, the DROID RAZR MAXX HD raises the industry standard for battery life with 32 hours of normal use. The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. With Ice Cream Sandwich. Disappointing

    1. “Jelly Bean coming by the end of the year.”…yeah right…bwahahahaha.

    2. Hopefully Moto’s new bootloader unlock site will support that device. And if the phone will have stock android on it, it should not be hard to upgrade to the latest OS.

  2. That’s pretty darn sweet to make a screen that big and it’s just about the same physical size as an iPhone. The funny thing is, Apple will try to say they made a ‘dramatic’ screen increase but managed to keep the phone small. 4″ is still small Apple. You just made it taller to make one extra row of apps.

    1. ios isn’t really designed to work with multiple screen sizes. I wonder what other apps and games will look like or is it just for the extra row of apps?

  3. He changed the article from 4″ to 4.3″ while I put my comment up.

  4. The screen is 4.3″. That is what I thought I heard when listening to the live webcast. I double checked and Motorola’s web site confirms this.

  5. I’m not really seeing the “edge-to-edge” screen on the M.

  6. From Moto’s website:

    CONSTRUCTION: PREMIUM MATERIALS, PREMIUM PROTECTION

An aircraft-grade aluminum frame surrounds the edge-to-edge display,
which is made of Corning® Gorilla® Glass to deflect both scratches and
scrapes. On the back, DROID RAZR M is made KEVLAR® strong. Spilled
coffee? Caught in the rain? No problem. DROID RAZR M is protected with a
water-repellent nanocoating — even the electrical boards inside.

    1. To me that is just as exciting as fitting a 4.3″ screen in a phone of that size

      1. Nice piece of hardware indeed

  7. It’s bull that this is going to be the first Verizon phone to officially run Jelly Bean, and not the Galaxy Nexus.

  8. that chin…ugh…

  9. Pre ordered. To everyone who is so sad that it has ICS. My moto droid X was the first non nexus device with gingerbread and my razr maxx was one of the first with ICS. Android isn’t windows. Just because JB is released doesn’t mean everyone SHOULD get it. It takes time for the development to catch up. Just ask ROM developers who release ROMs with stuff not working.

  10. check out the latest news u can get any thing u want …. for more info check the pic below

  11. good article
