Amazon Phone Reportedly Being Announced Tomorrow Alongside New Kindle Fire and E-Reader

19

Tomorrow, Amazon will mostly announce their brand new Kindle Fire and Kindle e-readers to the world. But if you though that was all they had up their sleeve, wait until you hear this. According to sources at The Verge, it seems Amazon could have something their very own “one more thing” moment planned for tomorrow’s press event and will involved the unveiling of a Kindle phone.

Sources say the device is still very early but will run on the same modified Android 4.0 OS as its bigger brother. With that, we can’t be sure sure if they will have a hands-on with the device, or if it will remain behind glass.

We wont have to wait much longer to find out. I’ll be up bright and early tomorrow morning bringing you guys the latest of what I admittedly thought was going to be a snooze-fest. Now, with the possibility of a Kindle Phone… things just got interesting.

  1. An Android phone without the Play Store would probably be the worst invention ever.

    1. Second worst ever. Worst would be the iPhone.

      1. He said invention so that excludes the iPriorArt

      2. just remember that thanks to the “worst invention ever” android exists today

        1. Just remember that iphone is NOT an INVENTION, ok? The first iphone was an improvement of things that were already existed, rumored or prototyped in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

The world’s first mobile phone by Motorola WAS an invention.

And the world’d first portable music player by SONY was an invention.

Look at LG Prada from 2006, then look at iphone from 2007.
Android is #1.Android was created in 2003 and acquired by Google in 2005. Iphone = 2007.

        2. You mean thanks to Be Inc, Palm and Danger

    2. I dunno…I want Amazon to shake things up a bit. They are the only company besides Google that can subsidize the price of the phones with recurring revenue.

    3. If Amazon is smart they’ll include the play store along with the Amazon Store

    4. No, mattpyles, an Android phone without the Play Store AND without Google’s suite of other native apps (Maps, Gmail, etc…) like this is rumored to omit, would be the worst invention ever.

  2. We have had rumors about the Kindle Phone in the past so its not surprising that it has come up again. All we can do is wait and see what comes out of tomorrow.

  3. I just ordered a new kindle to replace the one that broke….I have a feeling I’m going to be angry tomorrow when the price drops and there’s a newer version out! =P

  4. Since the Kindle Fire is a budget device, will the phone be one too?

  5. Definitely not gonna think about recommending/getting this phone…

  6. looks like some sort of HTC variant…

    1. just a photoshop. We’ll see what it looks like tomorrow

    2. It’s not an HTC variant – it’s from the Android Police Amazon Blaze april fools http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/04/01/exclusive-amazon-to-introduce-4-3-inch-dual-core-blaze-smartphone-this-summer-leak-pictures, which was included here without any credit. Chris, we would appreciate proper credit in a case like this.

  7. Amazon appstore is utter trash. its the primary reason i’ve told relatives who want a tablet to avoid the Kindle Fire.

    1. Aw, but I have my apps on there, which get solid 4.4 rating on Google Play, but worse ratings on Amazon. I know Amazon reviewers are pretty much always more negative though.

  8. personally i wouldnt want a device that didnt have google’s app ecosystem on it but I can certainly see the appeal of an Amazon phone
