LG Optimus L9 Now Official – Impressive Mid-Level Android with 4.7-inch Display and Ice Cream Sandwich

LG wastes no time in updating their handsets and with that, comes the newest addition to the L-series family — the LG Optimus L9. It was only yesterday we learned of LG’s quad-core superphone — the “G” — and while the L9 doesn’t share the same over-the-top processor, there’s still a lot here to love. Most notably is the L9’s 4.7-inch IPS display, upping the previous L7’s 4.3 inches. Also making the cut are a modest dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 5MP shooter and 2,150mAh battery. All this in a phone that just under 9.1mm thick (still a tad little thicker than the previous L7).

Also announced along with the L9 was the inclusion of LG’s all new “QTranslator” application that can scan text in over 44 languages, and translate into another 64. LG still managed to leave out a few important details for Android techies, like the display resolution or the type of processor being used. Either way, we expect the L9 to fit nicely into LG’s mid-range of devices with affordable pricing.

  1. I think you mean LG wastes no time in updating their handset line. Pissed G2x owner still stuck on gingerbread! :'(

    1. Your ICS probably melted… How unfortunate. And to think I was considering giving LG a try. I’m not liking these negative reviews I keep hearing about there cool, sleek looking phones.

  2. I don’t get it, why Ice Cream Sandwich and not Jelly Been?

    1. JB is fairly recent, plus the time they spent making this phone was when ICS was the latest thing

    2. I bet LG promises JB by 4th quarter if you buy the phone now, don’t fall for it, it is a trick.

  3. Wow, really? Dual-Core phones aren’ that mid-tier to me. It’s not like there’s Gamecube emulators or some high powered game that only requires Quad-Core or S4 processors to play it. Sheesh.

At least not until Real Racing 3 comes out. Then Ima have to upgrade… next year… in October. =.[

But based on today’s standards, I can see why it’ll be called middle-tier. My E4GT is running nice for me though. So I’m pretty set. LoL!!

  4. Nice looking phone

  5. this LG phone is much better than the galaxy s3 IMO. Maybe lg is actually better than samsung..

    1. yea and lada is better than bmw

  6. Notice the round icons. They must be trying to avoid Apple’s wrath.
