Gameloft Releases Wild Blood Gameplay Trailer (Shut Up and Take My Google Play Gift Card!)

17

After teasing us a few weeks back with little more than some fancy artwork and in-game character models, Gameloft is finally giving us a look at some actual gameplay for their upcoming title Wild Blood. The hype surrounding WB is that it’s being built using the Unreal Engine 3 made famous by iOS’ Infinity Blade. Needless to say, Android gamers are expecting nothing short of console-quality visuals.

When it comes to gameplay, many were expecting Wild Blood to be nothing more than an Infinity Blade rip-off (a business model Gameloft has become infamous for thanks to their “me too” titles). However, watching through their gameplay footage, it seems this will be more of a free-roaming, action RPG, hack-n-slash than a gesture based medieval Fruit Ninja. Take a look for yourself.

I must admit, while WB looks much better than the typical Gameloft fare, there seems to be a little something lacking. Call it “pizazz” or what have you. Animations seemed a little stiff, and there really wasn’t enough dynamic lighting or special effects to really wow me. But then again, maybe I’m just a hard sell. I did find the gameplay appealing thanks to the inclusion of a dodge maneuver which should add some skill to an otherwise mindless genre. What did you guys think? Is Wild Blood already living up to your expectations?

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  3. Want… I’m sure my non butter melting s4 can handle it.

  4. Meh I find these button mashing hack and slash type games kind of boring. Who knows maybe they will surprise me. If I can get it for around $4 I will give it a try. Not going to pay $6-$10 for something like this though.

    1. And that’s exactly why Gameloft will offer it for free — making it unbeatable without tons of in-app purchases -_-

      1. And that’s exactly why I won’t download it, along with any of their other greedium games.

        1. Who knows though.. this one might be different?

          1. …and my next phone will be an iPhone 5 *cough*

          2. iPhone5??? that’s not even funny jk

        2. @google-e907b20292b5066aa3bf81c8afffa28f:disqus nice word play “greedium” lol gotta love it

      2. I know gameloft has done crap like that in the past, along with many other developers. it is one of the safe havens for them though as pirating games on today’s phones is extremely easy. however i do hate the freemium games. If they put it on the market I will gladly pay the up front cost to play it. whether it sucks or its awesome, i won’t be out much money. remember, even though gameloft games are usually $7 on the google play store, those same games are $5 on gameloft’s website.

  5. Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning ripoff incoming!

    1. MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY. Looks just like Amalur.

  6. the game looks fun to play. though i started off hating playing games on touch screen, I have gotten used to it over the years. they have come a long way and I think this game has real potential. It may get boring, it may suck, but $5 on the gameloft site won’t break my gaming budget. I

  7. Still looks like an Infinity Blade ripoff. Am I the only one who has seen the trailer for the next edition of the Infinity Blade saga? It’s an Unreal-based, free roaming hack ‘n’ slash with gesture controls. However, since Google Play completely lacks other titles in this genre, I’ll take it.

  8. I don’t understand what people are looking for in a game anymore. Almost every game is some kind of ripoff of another game, that probably originated on NES or Sega Genisis. They have just gotten more creative with graphics and controls. I personally really like “hack and slash.” (ninja gaiden.) I don’t want to spend hours looking for the tree with the key hidden inside, that you would never find unless someone told you where to look, only to find out you are carrying too many items, and have to go back to the base to leave something behind. I like killing bad guys and moving on to the next set of bad guys or boss. I think this game looks like alot of fun, and I am really looking forward to it. Keep it up Gameloft.

  9. Give support for gamepads including sixaxis and I am sold.
