Samsung Galaxy S3 coming to MetroPCS this fall

49

The fall lineup for MetroPCS has been teased and it features a marquee phone many on the network will be eager to get their hands on. Along with handsets from Coolpad and ZTE we can expect a duo of Samsung smartphones, including the Galaxy S3. The second offering looks rooted in older Galaxy generations but gets one feature that sets it apart: VoLTE. Both should be popular options.

As far as the Coolpad and ZTE phones, they feature 4 and 4.3-inch displays respectively, but that’s about all we know. The Coolpad phone could debut in the next week or two and retail for $149. The Samsung Galaxy S3, which is in all ways identical to previous versions of the phone released, looks more likely to set customers back about $450, if not slightly more. MetroPCS should have their hands full over the coming months after launching the LG Motion 4G today.

  1. woohoo s3 is beast and i like metro hmm maybe i will get it hmmmnnmnmmnnn

  2. :O this just made my GS3 depreciate in value.

    1. Oh c’mon… don’t be THAT GUY

      1. he is right though. now all the lower class people will have access to
it. Samsung made a mistake in the long run here, because i will now
never buy a samsung phone because i know itll be available to the “ghetto peoples”

        1. Wow bro, you’re one ignorant mofo

          1. dude, im just saying what many verizon and att s3 owners were dreading to come to terms with after reading this article. In my area, NY, only the bulk of the welfare and government project population (blacks) have metropcs. Im just stating facts, u choose how to connect them

          2. Dude, we are connecting the dots. You’re a racist, plain and simple. I live in Atlanta and MetroPCS is very popular here, and not just with the “welfare and government project population”. There is nothing wrong with prepaid, and why the hell would it matter who uses the same phone? Are you that much of an ignorant racist that you won’t buy Samsung phones now? You’re a d-bag.

          3. I am no racist, I voted for Obama…

          4. that’s even worse

          5. that’s not good either

          6. i guess phandroid likes obama my posts get deleted oh well lmfao

          7. lol finally, someone who agrees with me

          8. You make it seem like a phone is a car…its a damn phone get over it!!! nobody cares what phone you have and if you hangout with people that do, you and your friends are pretty shallow and ignorant for thinking like that. I bet your phone is the most expensive thing you own huh lol

          9. phones represent a symbol in society, just like any other accessory…this is the purpose of the accessory. And no, Ive owned ur ancestors and that is priceless

          10. actually it’s not a symbol of society, it’s a battle of endorsing convenience ,power, and marketing. Don’t you see that when they review phones they compare it to other phones first, then the carriers. It’s all about who is packing the heat and who has the better flagship between manufacturers. And if a phone is more accessible to the media then obviously the company has the biggest stick resulting in larger profits. Smart move metro because prepaid carriers are stepping it up and this is a step to reaching the bigger stick

          11. symbol IN society…brush up on some anthro books, richard leakey will do u a lot of good

          12. The only symbol you represent is that rainbow that you have on your car…

          13. Still a phone shouldn’t be a symbol IN society because it’s a phone, so it shouldn’t be a categorizing factor IN society, just because the company isn’t the top notch company in the competition doesn’t mean it’s for poorer peop very le, it could be that they rather use their money on something important. And besides, in NY the ratio of the lower class to middle class is vastly different, so if metro sells it to them then obviously they’ll earn a larger profit

          14. lol, it doesnt matter what the item is, it can be a phone, a shirt, a ring…a symbol in society represents a bigger meaning. having an iphone shows that you have enough money (especially when it was only offered on att and vz) to own it and maintain a plan for it. There are way too many bottom-feeders in ny, people that just collect welfare, WIC, food stamps, now they have free cell phones..all from tax payers money. it is sickening, and u are probably one of those free loaders huh

          15. Yeah I am I’ll be honest, but I also pay taxes and help out other people when ever I can, I use metro because they have good coverage in metropolitan areas and I could save the thirty-sixty dollars and I wouldn’t mind wasting six or five hundred dollars so I could have a phone which obnoxiously isn’t free. Maybe you’re right I should read on some anthropology books so I could learn that there’s a lot of ignorant and obnoxious people in the world and there isn’t any help for them lol I also rather pay fifty dollars that benefit me better than ninety dollars just so a guy name toe wouldn’t offend me lol

          16. penny pinching is no way to live. just like i told the other guy down there, those rich people ppl speak of, theyre
just a material rich. being real rich is so much more than the average
can understand…so whatever you ‘think’ u know, is right, and what you
think you dont know is also right. ur mind will only go in circles
because it can only think the way u know how. once you learn more, the
wider those circles become and the way you think and what comes from it
will free you..bit cliche but true. -The way you think is who you are- so read up a little bit, educate your mind and ultimately. your life. also, goals are important, the drive to always be better, because without this a man is lost. he has lost his sense of purpose, which is to reach newer levels and reach for the peak of his abilities. being on the low end does not allow one to do this, in todays age. so try harder cuhz

          17. and I owned your mom and she was only 50 bucks…….

          18. Phones used to represent a symbol in our society. From a sociological perspective, they are now a non-issue, due to the fact that most-everyone, including 10 year old girls and boys, have smart phones.

        2. I’m sure Samsung will be ecstatic that you will no longer be representing them as a Samsung customer. Cause you are an ignorant douchbag, ah but maybe you should be representing apple ;P

        3. Wow, you really think you are an elitist? Haha. Actually more of the well off people I know, are financially situated because they penny-pinch and watch how they spend their money, such as having a phone plan and paying $50 less a month. But you go ahead an enjoy throwing your money away and signing up for 2-year contracts :)

          1. penny pinching is no way to live. those rich people you speak of, theyre just a material rich. being real rich is so much more than the average can understand…so whatever you ‘think’ u know, is right, and what you think you dont know is also right. ur mind will only go in circles because it can only think the way u know how. once you learn more, the wider those circles become and the way you think and what comes from it will free you..bit cliche but true. -The way you think is who you are- so read up a little bit, educate your mind and ultimately. your life.

          2. Really, penny pinching is no way to live? Lol? Because they seem just fine in their lives. Of course you are projecting your idealistic view of “real-rich” (as you so eloquently coined it), on the rest of the world as the set standard for reality. The way you think is who you are? Wow that’s really deep. That’s like saying where you move is where you go. Its a a poor attempt at projecting yourself as elevated, similar to your attempt to project your ill-advised ideals of “real-rich”. To quote Plato “The greatest wealth is to live content with little.” Or to quote one of the greatest pillars of this country, Benjamin Franklin, “It is only when the rich are sick that they fully feel the impotence of wealth”. I believe you, perhaps, should read up a bit, educate your mind, and you might just discover their is a much richer world of simplicity than that which exists in the narrow confines of your present frame of mind.

        4. oh STFU man what you think the phone its gna cost 25$ ? please.. its gona cost atleast 450 to 550 $ and how much did you paid for yours? 200 and 2 years contract?? hahahaha u see just shut up…

    2. it depreciated in value when you bought it douchbag…..

  3. samsung is one smart carrier

    1. company*

      1. so you know, there is an “edit” button. ;)

    2. WOW…..Let me guess, you have MetroPCS? It shows……

      1. nope I have a gnex with sprint….I’m just saying Samsung is smart in releasing their phone on a widely basis because it increases potential for sales.

        1. Oh ok….Ya I agree but to a point.

          1. so..because he messed up on one word and didnt see the “edit” button, that makes him a metro pcs customer? what an idiot you are…..

  4. metro oval just jumped from low end phones to a super phone overnight

    1. pcs *

      1. just so you know, there is an “edit” button. ;)

  5. whaaaaaaaaaaa? i would consider it but metro has horrible coverage where i am

  6. Smart of samsung to get their device on as many carriers as possible.
    Awesome news for MetroPCS customers.
non MPCS customers thinking this is a bad thing? Thats just ignorance talking.
God forbid people who prefer not being locked into carrier contracts also get a chance of owning an awesome phone like the rest of us…..

  7. Great news! If the price is OK, I’ll buy it for sure!

  8. Wow there are some snobs here lmao there is nothing wrong with metro. They have been improving this whole time (coverage, data speed, phones) What’s the problem

  9. Hell I don’t mind paying 55$ instead of 130$ for unlimited like I used to with Verizon! There isn’t anything wrong with Metropcs, I’ve been with all of the big companies. I get PERFECT 4G where I live, so I’m good.

  10. Joe , people like you don’t get far in life , or they get far so quickly so fast and OD along the way. You have to try (albeit hard) to look beyond your nose.
There is rich and there is poor, without the word poor there’ll be no rich. And yes i’m not poor by all standards, unless you say an MD is poor.

  11. amazing how closed minded some people truly are….when racism and prejudices even show their head when discussing wireless phones and carriers….some of the comments here sound like something an iPhone user would have said about non-main stream carriers getting the iPhone….just sayin!

  12. the internet doesnt make people stupid, its just allows stupid people to make comments.

a great day for metro customers and for customers in general. you even have tmobile coming out with unthrottled data plans. competition means better deals for us. anyone who thinks this is bad thing doesnt deserve to have an opinion.

  13. Ok since when is phone a symbol of power, give me a break. Not everyone who has a phone with metro pcs is on welfare and food stamps. That is by all means a stereotypical statement and a ignorant one as well. What about people that just want to save money, people in school, or family’s. Not everyone wants to pay an arm and leg monthly for mobile service and I know this first hand. I’ve had Verizon, at&t and tmobile and to be honest I like that extra $50 to $60 I keep in my pocket every month. That mentality is that of a dying breed in this age, get with the times or get left behind. Even the rich and powerful have their day.

  14. Yes there is a stereotype with metro users, as for me, it is just practical. I had t-mobile, paid 93 with a windows phone, and had little to no reception over half of where I went, including anywhere in-doors most of the time. Not to mention getting locked into a 2 year contract. With metro i’ll be saving $43 with no possibility of late fees, and I reception in all the places I need it most. And with the Samsung Galaxy S3, I won’t be toying around with some out-dated, freezing p.o.s.
