Avast Mobile Security 2.0 brings major feature-set

7

Avast is looking to go above and beyond what competitors are doing in the mobile security realm. Its new app, Avast Mobile Security 2.0, is now available for download in the Google Play Store.

With this 3.8MB upgrade you’re getting a mobile interface for anti-theft, a network meter feature, the ability to have your URLs auto-corrected, the ability to scan incoming messages, real-time protection of apps, a brand new widget, improved tablet interface, and a lot more.

While I’m not one to take my mobile security that seriously, Avast’s product is shaping up to be the one app to give you everything you need (whether you thought you did or not). Jump ahead for the download. [Google Play Store]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Using lookout for so long I doubt if I’ll switch. lookout always seems to be on the ball before the rest.

    1. Another site done some testing, Avast was able to ID more virus then all others.
      Maybe that’s a reason?
      Lookout wasn’t too bad either.

  2. I’ve been using Avast on all my PeeCee’s for a few years now (and AVG before that), but I see no point in putting useless AntiVirus crap on an Android phone. They need to make the AV aspect a minor optional feature in promos, and even remove their brandname from top billing in the app name, imo, so the AV association is even less. Should be called “Foobar by Avast”, instead of the “AVAST!” app…

(I use the free androidlost app + site for a free lost phone service)

  3. I use Avast solely because of its free anti theft tools with root permissions to make it so it can never be uninstalled.
    I uninstalled the AV part

  4. why even have virus protection for your phone…..waste of time

  5. I use it mostly for the sms and call blocking feature so for nothing has made it through so I’ll keep it.

  6. I use the Cerberus anti theft. Its awesome and much better in my opinion then lookout which I used before.
