Google finally launches official dedicated Android blog

15

The folks at Google have announced that they’ve launched a new blog dedicated to nothing but Android. News about Android and Android apps from Google were scattered throughout their many different corporate blogs, and would be given to us in the form of press releases and conference calls.

But with an official Android blog we now have a one-stop shop for all things Android when it comes to Google’s own offerings and news. It’ll also be a great place to go if you’re feeling a little lonely and want a little wave from the Bugdroid.

You’ll definitely want to add this one to your feed reader or bookmarks. It has a backlog of posts you can check out but it’s nothing we haven’t already covered here on Phandroid. We expect to see this thing updated much more frequently as time goes on. Head to the source link if you want in. [Official Android Blog]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. finally, my life is now complete :D

  2. Do I really need to visit it or will you repost all noteworthy news on phandroid anyway?
Currently seeing phandroid news on engadget, having to see them on a android blog would seem pointless.

    1. When they post something we think is important and noteworthy, we’ll certainly cover it on Phandroid as well!

  3. goodbye phandroid!

    1. The Official Android Blog doesn’t really compete with Phandroid at all. I doubt you’ll find rumors there, reviews, comparisons, tutorials, tips, tricks, deals, info on phone launches, coverage of live events, etc…

Definitely subscribe to their RSS feed as I’m sure it’ll be an awesome resource, but I think you’re doing yourself a disservice by thinking it will replace the kind of content we cover on Phandroid.

  4. maybe they’ll explain what they plan to do about android fragmentation brought on by devs and carriers… see LG, and HTC Desire HD/Rezound/TBolt (all 3 are not getting ICS).

  5. I just come here for my android news since I already use the forums :) but good to see more streamline exposure i suppose

  6. Oh oh there goes phandroid o.O

    1. Phandroid isn’t going anywhere. I’m excited they’ve opened an Official Blog as it provides another great trusted source of info and an opportunity for even more transparency. But will they post reviews? Comparisons? Rumors? Tutorials? Tips/Tricks?

Phandroid and AF were the world’s first resources dedicated to Android and we’ll be around for as long as Android lives on.

      1. Clearly the blog doesn’t scare you (and it shouldn’t) because you actually gave it more publicity by publishing an article about it…

If this threatened Phandroid.com at all you obviously would not have posted an article on it.

  7. Any way of getting it into my Twitter feed? Can’t find it.

  8. Phandroid is more dedicated then the official android blog obviously.

  9. What’s their G+ handle? Can’t be sure I got the correct one.

      1. Thanks for that Supercopter. I had the main Android page circled but not the other two.
