Archos 97 Carbon with Android 4.0 now available for $250

13

Archos is now shipping the Archos 97 Carbon, an Android 4.0 tablet with a 9.7 inch display and a 1GHz processor. 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB), and dual-cameras round out the major specs of this device. You could do much better for $250 if you don’t mind going lower in screen size.

The Nexus 7 is one such route to take with its quad-core processor, 7 inch display, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and most importantly updates directly from Google. But if screen size is a concern for you and you need an iPad-sized tablet at an affordable price point, then I guess this is as good as you’ll bet. Head to Archos to order one now.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Someone should ask Kevin what he thinks about this tablet

  2. Garbage, why would Anyone buy this when the nexus 7 has FAR better specs at a lower price??? An did I mention it’s a nexus!?

    1. Because it has a bigger screen.

    2. I really do feel bad for these low end tablet manufacturers. Google can afford to sell the Nexus 7 for a razor thin profit margin because they make a constant stream of money from Android users after the sale via their play store purchases, AdSense, etc.

The low end manufacturers,. on the other hand, have to make their profit up front since there’s no income stream following the sale.

      1. Hopefully, they will see this as a challenge and produce some feature that nobody has put into production. Archos has the skills. They suck at marketing but they have the innovation. But yes, they can’t keep making the same old same old tablets. Archos however may just be content with their share of european tablet market.

    3. 7 inch is to small for many of us. I would really love a nexus but for me, the screen size is sadly 100% a deal breaker. Also I know I’m unusual for it but I also need a rear facing camera. But the screen size is an issue for many. When Google comes out with a nexus 10 poor archos may go out of business.

  3. i can think of one person this would be perfect for, an elderly friend of mine who wants a tablet for cheap but tried a 7″ screen and said using it much would kill her eyes.

  4. Move along, nothing to see here!

  5. Wish i could only buy the software for my former Archos tablet that has never seen any tablet software yet, due to poor after sales of Archos.

  6. If i know Archos, and i do since i used to own the Archos101, this will be just as poor a device.

  7. inb4 Charbax comes in and disagrees with everyone

  8. My answer? Hell no!
