Vizio Co-Star Google TV pre-orders open at $100, shipping August 14th

Vizio has announced pricing and availability details of their Co-Star Google TV unit. The $99 box, introduced about a month ago, is now available for pre-order and will begin to ship August 14th.

It is one of the most affordable solutions yet save for the Logitech Revue (which actually debuted at $300 but quickly received steep price drops following a lack of consumer demand).

Vizio’s box features a smart remote that gives you a touchpad and standard buttons on one side, and a QWERTY pad on the other. 3D video, OnLive gaming, and more make it one of the more attractive offerings for Google TV in quite some time. If you want to make sure you’ll get one once it launches don’t be afraid to put your pre-order in here.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I just received my new Sony unit (NSZ-GS7) and it has some nice features and also some really annoying crappy ones. You can’t win when it comes to GoogleTV. It’s incredibly disappointing. I also have the Revue if you were wondering.

Google should have announced the Nexus Q as the next GoogleTV device with the added functionality. I’d gladly pay $300 for that.

    1. 100% I think the Nexus Q should have been a GTV device instead of an mp3 player that you hook up to your TV.

    2. Since you own one of these units maybe you can answer a question. Can you hook up a webcam to these units that would be used with google talk or some other video chat program?

      1. I know the Revue had a very expensive camera accessory. But I’m not sure if it actually worked with Talk or their 3rd party program. Havent heard of any other webcams working with Gtv.

  2. Is there a sling box feature built in?

    1. I would like to know this, too..

  3. I think this is the one that gets me GoogleTV!

  4. @Scott Stafford…. what things do you find annoying about it? I’m interested in this product. I have the original Sony Blu-Ray and I’m happy with it but it had a rough start. Thanks!

    1. Yea, I’d really like to know as well… Have the first gen blu-ray as well… Love it, uses it every day!!!

  5. I think that it’s time to replace my first gen Roku…

  6. I checked the site and can’t pre-order anymore. Just says “coming soon“. Bummer, was gonna order it.
