HTC Support: ICS for Rezound due by the end of July

13

More good Ice Cream Sandwich update news has just hit the airwaves. Android&Me is reporting that HTC Support has pegged “end of July” as a release window for Verizon’s HTC Rezound. The dual-core, 720p device launched with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and since there’s no S4 processor you can expect the version of Sense not to exceed 3.6.

Still, Ice Cream Sandwich should bring a greatly enhanced experience with a ton of new features and newly-designed apps from the Google Play Store.

HTC Support said final pushes would go out in August meaning this will likely be a staggered over-the-air process.  Anything can change at any time so we will not get too excited just yet, but we see no reason to believe that the update won’t be available soon.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. haha…
how many promises are you gonna publish that turn out to be garbage?
you’re an idiot if you believe this.
and why would this site continue to publish lie after lie after lie?
how about getting it right…just once?
when you publish this crapola, just like you’ve published the other lies about update, you just hurt yourself.

    1. I’m pretty sure that they publish the news. They don’t have a time machine to tell whether or not HTC is going to keep their promise.

    2. Can you hear the butthurt?

  2. I need to get one of these for a test device. I hope ICS fixes some of the odd issues this device has (from developer standpoint).

  3. If I was in charge at HTC is would make sure that this update is pushed out this month at all costs.

They can’t have another fail after the recent drop in profits and market share.

Customers had enough of your failures HTC and they are voicing their disgust by purchasing your competitions products.

Take your head out of your a@@

  4. Total BS how long it’s taking this update to come out. I was sick of waiting and went ahead and rooted and running a Sense 4 ROM no problem. It runs great! Not sure why the Rezound wouldn’t get an official Sense 4 with it’s dual core processor…

  5. You can already flash the RUU without being rooted and BOOM… ICS! Finally did this about 2 weeks ago — made a huge difference in phone performance. Rooting might still be in my future, but for now this works great!

    1. is there a forum that details this process?

      1. http://forums.androidcentral.com/rezound-rooting-roms-hacks/172783-how-flash-leaked-ruu.html very easy process — all of 4 steps. Download once, install 2x. Sounds odd but you have to go through the install process twice (do a battery pull between each install). ICS 4.0.4 — still has Sense 3.6 overlay but you can use a different launcher (Apex or Nova).

  6. Yeah, “end of July”, just like they said when the device came out November 14, 2011, “ICS will be out in early 2012.” I wish I could handle IRS deadlines the way Verizon Wireless handles its marketing promises. There is nothing that “held up” ICS for the Rezound other than VZW’s own selfish desire to push other phones instead of the 9 month old Rezound. The OTA was leaked June 10th, and I’ve been running an earlier leak of it since May.

    Just ridiculous.

  7. Wow how Awesome! We get ICS just when JellyBean comes out. Way to make us feel current!

  8. This will help cm9 come to the rezound right?

  9. this is a total BS lie..how many times were rumors flying from “reliable” sources that the ICS was right around the corner..even faked us out by sharing a date to make it look official just to pull the rug out from under us….from here on I don’t believe anything i read about the ICS update..if and when it comes i welcome it but otherwise don’t bother me with RUMORS!
