The international Samsung Galaxy S3 seems to have received another OTA upgrade. This one makes substantial changes to the user experience.
More specifically, we now have slider controls for device brightness, better options for audio, more toggles in the power menu, fixes for AccuWeather, and a lot more that users are noticing over at AndroidForums.com.
Keep in mind that this is only confirmed to be going out to the unbranded international versions of the device. Carrier specific devices will have to wait until adaptation and testing is done.
There is one report of T-Mobile UK devices getting the upgrade but don’t take my word for it. You’re looking for a 72MB build with build number I9300XXLFB. Go ahead and check for the upgrade in your phone’s settings menu. [Thanks Shaz!]
This phone is such a beast, likely the best phone out there period, yet could be even better if it run stock android, touchwiz is the only flaw
I agree although I feel they could have made the phone even better if they hadn’t focused so intently on gimmicky software features. Also I understand their need to compartmentalize for secrecy reasons but it caused a very disjointed app environment, with different apps using different protocols for the same function. All in all it is an awesome phone though! Stock android would definitely make it a better experience in my opinion.
Agreed 100% the only other area where I actually think they went backwards was on the screen, why in the world would they go with a pentile matrix :/
I’m sure there will be many AOSP Roms for this phone.
There are loads of AOSP and just cut down Sammy roms out there at the mo. CM9 on here rocks.

I’m on Three (3UK) here in the UK, earleir today it told me there was an update. I was using my phone for some telephone meetings so I told it to remind me in an hour.
Then, when I tried again, it said ‘No update’
3 have obviously pulled it….
Anyway, roll on CM10!!!!! ;-)

Got the upgrade. Can’t even use it as a phone now. Process com.android.phone crashes whenever I try to make or receive a call. Please help.
Have you tried a factory reset?
(3-finger boot into stock recovery mode, you should be able to do the reset from within there….just make sure all of your data is backed up because it will wipe the device.)
Didn’t care to order one online considering I rarely use my phone and have A prime tf201 I bought the US version to my disappoint unabel to play with Google wallet and no OTA which apparently fixes that.

The SVoice app is also update to version 4.1..!:-) it has become faster in giving response..!
