The Samsung Galaxy S3 for Verizon was said to be June 9th, but new evidence suggests the handset will begin shipping July 10th. Nothing too alarming, of course, but interesting nonetheless.
The ship date may not necessarily coincide with the day users will actually get it, though. It could be anywhere from 3 days to a week afterward that it actually starts showing up at doorsteps, but we have a feeling the wait won’t be grueling for many.
The wait for the ship date alone is long relatively speaking, though, considering most major carriers will be offering the device starting June 21st.
Whatever the case may be, wake us up when the delay is more than a week — one day shouldn’t deter anyone who was already planning on buying it. [via Droid-Life]
Dude you should check your facts and posts before you post them. First
of all it wasn’t June 9th it was July 9th. The reason it changed to
July 10th from the 9th if you would check around is because Verizon has
sold all of their initial pre order batches so this is the second wave pushing it back a day!
Exactly…. further to the point that people seem to be missing is that it is a ship BY date. Given VZW’s track record for releases (see Bionic, GNex) I doubt it would be much earlier but July 9th (or 10th) is not the actual release date
I can forgive the mis-type of June 9th but maybe look further into the change and determine if it effects all pre-orders or maybe just pre-orders as of today.
They changed the date because the needed more time to load those VZW crap apps!!
Reason I got it is because there has yet to be a Galaxy S phone that has not been wide open for the dev community. Root and ROM the beast. My initial thoughts are that it may just be root only with all the extras Samsung has included.
I hear you on that one. I did the same w/ my Gnex. Running CM9 Nightlies w/ no extras and only a few daily apps installed the beast gets almost 35hrs w/ the stock CM9 Kernel per charge. Love the dev community.
It would be lamed if they push out too further out and land on the Apple vs. Samsung court date, and the ban comes in affect, then they can’t ship the phone. Dude, I would be mad. I’m planning to ditch AT&T for big red. I hope rotten Apple will lose their childish games, and rotten for good.
The judge has already dismissed that frivolous claim by apple. All is well for Sammy (for this moment anyway..)

Re-read that. It says the court date is still set for July.
Although a little vague, my comment was correct. The judge has dismissed the preliminary injunction to stop the US launch date for SGS III. There is still a court date yes, that’s why I said they were in the clear for the moment. Thanks for the the clarification :)
I’d check out sprint first. Verizon wants to suck all the money out of you. I’ve been with Verizon for 8 years and I’m gone once my grandfathered data goes away!
I says it ships June 28th. Why else would vzw have chosen that date for the family screwjobs plans? June 28th it is in the stores.. Let the family share effings begin ;)
Well you can opt out of it and just get a regular plan.
i’ll be keeping my unlimited! but i stick behind the date, verzion needs something nice to sell with their high priced data shares!
Those that pre-order the S3 before June 28th will be able to retain their unlimited data plans. I’ve confirmed this with Verizon twice, as that’s what I’ve done.

If you are gNex user, why would you want this device? The point of the gNex and ‘google phones’ is vanilla Android. Plus you had 4.0 maybe 6+ months before 99% of the Android population.
yeah… If I had to put an educated guess to that, it would be to what others have already mentioned. If you are just ordering it now, it will ship by the 10th. That doesn’t necessarily mean that people that pre-ordered it in the 1st 5 minutes (or up until that notice) of the pre-sale will get it shipped then…
The same thing happened when I ordered my DINC. After it was sold in stores, the ship date got pushed way back. I guess this goes to show the number of pre-orders that they are getting…
There’s no way VZW is coordinated and organized enough to get it released before mid – august. No way
At this point they can push it back even more. Yeah, I pre-ordered but if I happen to receive mine within the 14 days of the RAZR HD release I will be more than happy to trade it in.
I just found out about the new shipping date about an hour ago when I placed my preorder. Hope my DX lasts until it arrives!
