Some Sprint Customers Receiving HTC EVO 4G LTE’s Along With Free TPU Case and Apology Letter

32

For some lucky HTC EVO 4G LTE pre-orders, their devices are being shipped with a bonus — an official HTC TPU case and an apology letter. The letter expresses Sprint’s sincere apologies for the launch delays (although, really, it was never their fault). The Sprint letter reads,

“HTC and Sprint want to thank you for your patience as we know you have been anticipating the arrival of your new HTC Evo 4G LTE. Please accept this phone accessory as a small token of our appreciation and thanks.”

Nice gesture on Sprint’s part. This is the first we’ve heard from users receiving free cases along with their LTEvo’s so, shout out if any of you guys received something similar. Now, we just have to wait until the device is officially available in stores, though, I wouldn’t expect the same offer for walk-ins.

  1. That’s damn classy sprint and htc!

  2. I got a body glove case with mine.

  3. I GOT NOTHING BUT MY PHONE!

    1. OMFG HOW DARE THEY >_> calm down doods. its the internet.

  4. “this phone accessory” #correction

  5. My HTC Evo 4g LTE arrived yesterday and got nothing but the phone, charger and Sprint booklets and to top it off it was packaged terribly in the box.

    1. Maybe yours was one of the phones that was inspected by customs…

  6. I got one in a box a day after my evo. It was cyan blue and really uglified the device. It was a nice gesture but i wont be using it

  7. The teenager inside of me giggled tremendously after reading your comment.

    1. What was it?

  8. Sprint shouldnt have apologize. It was ALL APPLE DOING. BANNING the phone when people already pre ordered them a few weeks ahead of launch date was a mistake n bad for us the consumer. ******* crApple. They better NOT BAN THE GALAXY SIII.

  9. Received the same package today…probably won’t even open it, but it’s nice to see Sprint making an effort to keep customers happy.

  10. Just got mine today…really wish it was a black instead of this bright blue but still nice of Sprint even though it was Apple’s fault…love my new EvoLTE!

  11. I got one too! :-) Now if only HTC would at least reimburse us a couple bucks for something that could’ve been entirely avoided

    1. Why should HTC give anything other than the product you ordered? Remember this wasn’t their doing. Apple caused the delay for something HTC already changed before the product even reached America… Apple cried (patent infringement) wolf (again) and the consumer had to suffer. I say enjoy what you ordered and the fact that you got it. It could’ve been worse… HTC could have not fixed the issue and all the phones could’ve been shipped back to Taiwan and no one get anything after the government places a ban on it like they did certain Samsung phones in Europe.

      1. So, you’re saying that Apple got their hands on one of these devices, went through it, and randomly decided to impose a ban through customs, just because they felt intimidated by the phone itself? Hmm, so then we should sue Apple for delaying something that had nothing to do with them, and was rightfully ours to begin with.

        1. Nope, not saying that at all. I do think they had doubt that HTC changed what was in dispute and felt they needed to intervene which of course resulted in upset HTC customers but i wish they actually had proof of wrong doing before acting since all they did was mess up people’s weekend. Imagine if the roles were reversed how many upset iUsers there would be. They would come out with pitch forks and torches. I don’t think Apple should be sued… I don’t think anyone should be sued here… I think they need to have it out on the stores, on the shelves and out of the courtroom.

          1. Well, I was going to pre-order mine online and since I had been having issues with my old Evo’s charging port I went to the corporate store to see if they could work on it. They told me it had water damage and could not work on it and gave me the number for the warranty company. I said, I was pre-ordering the new EVO and should have it the 18th. They said, Why dont you pre-order it here and wel will guarantee that you get it on the 18th and set it up for you as well. Ok, that was not the case because of the custom’s ordeal. Now, they do not know when will they get theirs but others are getting their pre-ordered EVO as evident by this thread. Best Buy is distributing their pre-orders. No one at the store can tell me when they will get their pre-orders and no one at Sprint can tell me when the store will get their pre-orders. I ended up in the cancellation department who offered to give me an 80 dollar credit to offset the warranty 100 dollar deductible to replace my current phone but I would have to sign up for another year, and then when I do get my new evo I have to sign up for 2 more years. Here is the deal, I am a contractor and if I promise my customer to complete a job by a certain date and fail to do so because materials i ordered are not available it is my fault… I cannot pass the buck onto the supplier although i do have to deal with the supplier myself… it isn’t up to my customer to deal with them. Plain and simple Sprint has dropped the ball on this deal and a cheap phone cover isn’t enough! And the audacity of their representatives to insist it isn’t their fault isd a slap in the face to the customer who is paying Sprint, no one else.

  12. I’m jealous!!!

  13. Wow, this is awesome seeing a carrier being so… good.

As a Verizon customer I am in shock at this kind of awesome treatment. I’m still sitting here with 4.02 on my gNexus and after even after 2 calls to their customer service, no one even knew of an upgrade. Also since they are clipping their unlimited data plans for their grandfathered users, I really don’t have a reason to stick with them anymore.

Sure Verizon has good service, but when they give such little shit about their customers, it’s infuriating when you run into any walls.

+1 to Sprint for maintaining good customer relations!

  14. I preordered mine at a radioshack and they gave me 25 bucks off the price saying it was an apology for the delay. I think that was a good gesture as well from a retailer that had zero fault in this.
