Best Buy alerting users that the HTC EVO 4G LTE will ship May 23rd

10

Those who have preordered the HTC EVO 4G LTE through Best Buy have gotten an email stating that the device will now launch May 23rd. This is, of course, in response to the device being held up at US Customs for inspection of violation of an Apple patent that HTC has apparently already fixed.

With no official word from HTC or Sprint we can’t be sure Best Buy’s new estimation is accurate, but the day is still young and the weekend hasn’t hit so we’ll see if they end up being correct before too long. In any case, we’ll know if the date has some legs to it in less than a week’s time. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Hmm… Few days shouldn’t be too bad

  2. It is sad that we are not going to have our beloved Evo tomorrow and I get why everyone thinks that Sprint should do something for us that costs them money but I do not! I think what Sprint should do is for the live LTE markets they should enable the new Evo as a treat for us waiting. This will make me plenty happy and it does not cost Sprint anything else out of pocket. (Which they can not afford to do if they ever wish to complete Network Vision and what ever else they have up their sleeves.)

    1. Why should Sprint do something? Its not their fault and how does someone not think this is costing them money? I’m sure they are losing money of new subscribers that said screw it I will take my business elsewhere.

    2. I think the plan was turn on LTE with EVO launch…

  3. Has anyone pre ordered from best buy? And received this email so we have confirmation atleast of this email?!

    1. I got the email this afternoon saying the 23rd.

  4. The Walmart that I work at, got the dummy unit in today.

  5. Just called Sprint they just say they will send an email with a tracking number as soon as it ships. Fingers crossed for tonight….

  6. I got an email that radioshack, in order to appease preorders, is selling the phone for 174.99 and if I had an og evo, they would knock off an extra 25 bones. Now I gotta dig up my old evo.
