Update for Motorola Droid 2 rolling out now, bringing security patches and bug-fixes

Users of Motorola’s Droid 2 should be seeing an OTA notification, as Verizon has updated the support page with the information that a new update (v4.5.621) is now available.

What do you get for those 14 MBs?

Device Features

  • Device is enabled with the Wireless Alerting System.
  • A Google Security Patch has been added to improve security level.
  • Fixed issue where the device may power ON without user interaction.
  • Adjusted camera settings will be saved, even after the device is powered down.
  • Resolved possible device resets while playing music.
  • Reduced Out of Memory errors.

Email, Messaging & Data

  • Improved ability to access and receive Gmail messages when the
  • Mobile Hotspot is turned on.
  • Addressed error that replicated thumbnails in message threads.

Applications & Widgets

  • WAV files can be played from Visual Voice Mail.
  • Purchased ringtones are now able to be downloaded, saved and used where appropriate.

  1. Still waiting on my froyo update on my clIq xt where is it motorola? How long has it been out and its still on cupcake. You promised an update i think it was q4 2010. here it is q2 2012, ics is out and still no froyo. You know what screw you ill stick with my gnex.

  2. If ur rooted dont take it

    2. Do you have the app Voodoo OTA RootKeeper ? it will keep your root after the ota update as long as you save the “su” of the device when it was rooted. EDIT : I haven’t got the update yet so i don’t know if it will work but i will let you know.

  3. 1 update for the droid 3 since july, when can we get a usable camera?

    1. there is an ICS camera app in playstore. i got it on my X2 works great.

  4. Too bad it won’t fix the camera being stuck in MACRO MODE, like so many of us Droid2 users are experiencing
