Samsung Galaxy Pocket takes its 2.8-inch display to the FCC

8

Samsung has a little something for the haters out there who say the Galaxy Note’s 5.3-inch display is laughably large. It’s the Samsung Galaxy Pocket, the Android smartphone with a 2.8-inch display that just passed through the FCC. There has been no word of plans to unleash the small fry on the US population, but its GSM 850/1900 and UMTS Band V radio support certainly makes AT&T a possibility. The Pocket is specced out at the entry-level, as you might expect for a handset of its size. It features an 800MHz processor, 2MP camera, and Android 2.3.

  1. Speced just right for the idiots that think a Galaxy Note is too big. I tried an iPhone for the first time in a couple of years the other day and immediately threw it down because the screen was too tiny. I’ll never buy another phone with anything less than a 4 inch screen.

  2. Really 2.8?? that’s absurdly small, anything less than 4 is too small for me, at this point even a small/pocket phone should have at least a 3.5 inch screen.

  3. Personally I agree… After getting my s2 I have a hard time with my sidekick 4g screen size and it’s not really even that small loo I used to be a fanciful them tiny a$$ toy phones but ckmebon 800mhz? Pass.. No thanks. First there shouldn’t even be less then a gig in any droid these days and second wtf… How many galaxy I gonna make Samsung? I think it lowers the lines overall appeal to have these Lil crap phones called galaxy. Only real ones Imo are the og s2 and note or anybody those variants… What’s next I upgrade my sk4g to be called the sidekick galaxy 4g?

  4. Without at least a hardware keyboard, I can’t imagine that thing being very easy to type on… The old HTC hero was damn near impossible with its 3ish inch display

  5. The Samsung Galaxy Pocket vs the Samsung Galaxy Note.

    Pocket:
It’s not the size of your screen that matters, it’s how you use it.

    Note:
Is that a Samsung Galaxy Note in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

  6. The 3.2″ screen on the samsung galaxy prevail is much to small to use for any length of time. its fine for listening to music since you do not need to stare at the screen constantly. its ok for reading text messages as well but trying to watch videos ro something else is just pathetic glad I picked up a 7″ tablet to supplement my 3.2″ prevail for videos and browsing the web on the go.

  7. Is there a more pointless debate than screen size? “I wouldn’t buy anything smaller than 4 inch”, “3.5 inch is perfect for me”, “I love my 4.65 inch screen” – it’s subjective. There’s no right and no wrong and nothing to debate. Not criticising Phandroid or non-confrontational chat, but the arguing that can pop up on forums is mindless.
