Samsung trademarks Galaxy Emerge, Halo, and Stellar names

5

Samsung is adding to its cadre of potential new phone names, filing three new trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The Korean mobile maker has cast dibs on Galaxy Emerge, Galaxy Halo, and Galaxy Stellar. While we can’t say what the names will be used for (if used at all) specifically, the filings are categorized as relating to “Mobile phones; Smartphons.” We could speculate that these names will be attached to US variants of the upcoming Galaxy S III, but they are just as likely to be applied to low-end or midrange Galaxy handsets. The Halo and Stellar names, at least, seem to have some sort of celestial or otherworldly connotations. Other recent Samsung trademark filings include the Galaxy Axiom, Galaxy Awaken, Galaxy Heir, and Galaxy Rite.
