Chrome to Phone Updated to Fix Bugs and Improve Look and Feel

11

Google has updated another one of their applications today. This time, it’s Chrome to Phone, an application that gets extensive use out of me. The application allows users to send webpages that they’re viewing on Chrome to their Android devices that have the application installed. My main use for it has been to send maps and directions to my device before I leave to go to a place I don’t know.

The new update fixes an error that caused the app to crash on Honeycomb devices. Google has also added landscape support and an improved look and feel. A solid update, all in all. Find it here in the Android market. [via Android Police]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. It doesn’t just send web pages.  It sends highlighted text, phone numbers, addresses, directions, pictures, etc. etc. and they will open in the appropriate apps on your phone automatically.  This is one of the best, little known apps in the market.

Also, this update does not change the “Look and Feel” at all as far as I can tell.

    1. Yes cant see the differences.

But it did fix the FC on my ICS nexus

  2. Apparently this update hasn’t fixed the LAG problems. Half the time that I use Chrome2Phone, the link or text will show up almost instantly, but the other half… I have to wait upwards of 10 minutes before it falls out of the cloud.

It doesn’t matter if I’m using Chrome2Phone in Chrome or FoxToPhone in Firefox, or if on Wifi/Data, or if after a fresh phone reboot, or if the screen is left on, because the delay remains.

I sent this page to my phone after updating the app a few minutes ago… and…. still no browser has popped up on my phone; It’ll probably show up 5 minutes after I post this, though…

[EDIT: And… just as expected, the page showed up many minutes late.]

    1. I get virtually no lag on my phone.  Just sent this page, it popped up on my phone in less than 2 seconds.

  3. Just checked this one and this looks pretty neat, I liked the interface and options. Finally there is something good by Google for Android users and hoping to get some more good stuff from them :)

    1. If Your Just Finding Out About This App Now.. Then You Must Not Know How Many Good Things Google Has For Android

  4. It stopped working on my pc. When I click on the extension it says I need to login and when I click on sign in it goes to a blank page that says redirecting and never does anything after that. It’s been doing that for months.

    Update: Still doesn’t work..

  5. I thought this app was already abandoned long time ago suddenly stopped working

  6. Too bad they broke it. It keeps saying “unable to connect”. Also, what’s up with all the ICS updates when I don’t even have that OS? I thought they could make specific app versions for specific phones.

  7. Does it actually work correctly now or do I still need to send a page 10 times before it actually sends?

  8. How did I not know about this app. Thanks Quentyn!
