Well Verizon is definitely set to launch something on December 15th. So exciting, isn’t it? It’s the white DROID RAZR! The 4.3 inch dual-core smartphone that’s too dangerous to fall into the wrong hands. It’s $300 on contract, or $200 if you buy it alongside the DROID Xyboard.

And with that, I’ll just point you all to our DROID RAZR review and let you handle that huge, hard-to-miss elephant standing in the corner of the room. (Don’t worry, we don’t have to wait for the elephant man this time.) Read on for full press details.

Just in time for the holidays, the DROID RAZR™ by Motorola in White will be available on Dec. 15 at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at www.verizonwireless.com. Customers can purchase the DROID RAZR in the new color for $299.99 with a new two-year customer agreement. Additionally, for a limited time only, customers can take advantage of a special promotion and receive $100 off a DROID XYBOARD tablet with the purchase of a white DROID RAZR with a new two-year customer agreement. Customers that purchase a DROID RAZR will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan beginning at $39.99 monthly access and a smartphone data package starting at $30 monthly access for 2 GB of data.

The DROID RAZR not only shreds through the Web at blazing 4G LTE speeds, it does it in style with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED™ Advanced display, measuring 7.1 mm thin. The DROID RAZR is also packed with brains and security giving customers apps like MotoCast™ and features like remote wipe, pin lock and government-grade encryption for email, calendar and contacts.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. And in other time travel news, Quentyn went back in time and deleted my post from 2 mins ago (awkwardness).
      ; )

    1. ha did he really? why?

      1. he first posted november 15th

      2. He had posted that VZW was releasing the white Razr on Nov. 15th.  I was disturbed that VZW had acquired time travel technology.  Apparently, big Q didn’t share in my humor. : /

        1. I actually removed the entire post and all the comments went with it. Sorry about that.

          1. No worries.  Just havin’ some fun.

Now please go post another depressing story about the Unicorn Phone.

  2. Insanity!  I want my GNEX!!!!!

    1. This was an article about a white Razr. Don’t be a Nexus Yarrell.

      1. OK…so let’s talk about the Razr…
Do you like the white?  Do you know when the GNex will be out?

        1. No, I don’t like white phones. I don’t care when the Samsung Nexus will be released for Verizon, nor do I care. After playing with an imported Nexus for a few days, the more I started thinking to myself “This is going to be the Windows Vista of Android” – nice looking, sort-of, but overall, I’ve never been so underwhelmed by an Android device and the execution of the OS before. I think Phandroid has forums, I’m sure there are tons of Nexus Yarrells there that love to do nothing more than sit around all day and speculate and bitch about the release date of a seriously over-rated device, and say stupid shit like “goodness” and whatnot about something the majority of them never even laid eyes on. You should try there.

          1. I also would not like a white phone.  And I have never laid hands on a GNex but plan to before I buy.  And I’m not really on the speculation wagon…hell, I can’t even buy it until at least Dec. 28th when my ‘new every 2’ is up. BUT, I am ready for a new phone as my Dinc has put in it’s 2 years and this is the best phone on the market that meets my needs (Rezound is a close 2nd).  Razr is out due to the internal battery.  And I’m not waiting around for a manufacturer to come out the with “windows 7” of phones.
I’m interested to hear what you do not like about the Gnex or the OS?  I have a honeycomb device so I am used to the feel of it already – and like it.  ICS only adds slight changes to HC.  It’s not a good as some of the roms I have tried but that’s expected.

          2. I agree 100% about the integrated battery in the RAZR – I don’t care what my current phone is, I like to have a spare battery or two with me, smartphones kill batteries, it’s just the way it is. I’ve seen people claim that they get 3 and 4 days of heavy use out of their phones – yeah, and I can run at 214 mph.
Regarding the other thing mentioned, unfortunately, and shall remain nameless (yes, I know this is self-defeating, because I was complaining about it being mentioned everywhere, blah-blah-blah). I would definitely recommend spending some time with one before buying it. One of the big killers for me is the fact that ICS doesn’t currently have Flash support, which I know some people don’t care about. I also know quite a few people who *thought* they didn’t care until I told them to uninstall Flash from their phones and use it for a day. There are websites and games that I often visit or use that are Flash-driven. Some of these sites I actually have to see because it’s work-related stuff, and it’s nicer to be able to just pull something up on my phone if it’s just something I just need to look at, or go over, rather than using one of my computers. I use ad-blockers, so I don’t see ads, they’re pretty much a non-issue for me. Adobe has been saying that it will support ICS by the end of the year. If they do, that’ll be great, but if I was forced to bet on it, I wouldn’t bet on it being out that soon. I remember how long it was initially promised to make it’s way to Android. I know that HTML5 is becoming more common, and it’s the future, yada-yada, but, this is the present.
I didn’t like the feel of it – it felt like I could crush it by squeezing it. Yes, I know, they’re pretty tough, but it sure as hell didn’t feel that way.
I also just didn’t care for the virtual buttons. I just didn’t. I don’t think they sucked, or were horrible, I just prefer hardware buttons – maybe because I’m used to them. I think they’d be better suited to tablets, but that’s just my opinion. The fact that it can make for a smaller bezel isn’t a big deal to me at all either. I think that a lot (the majority) of commenters have no idea what the hell they’re actually talking about, they simply see someone else say something, so they take it as truth – like rumors that Thunderbolts have 4-hour battery life (I don’t know who the hell came up with that, while they’re not the best on batteries, I can easily get 8-10 hours of fairly heavy use out of mine), people who say stupid shit like “fail” if a camera doesn’t have at least 8MP (showing that they have about the same grasp of optics as a sandflea), the dummy last year who wrote “fail” because a phone didn’t have gyroscopes, although, in the same post he admitted that he didn’t know the difference between a gyroscope and an accelerometer. All I see anymore is people who want to hurt or kill themselves over a phone that actually isn’t that amazing – while it is definitely no slouch, and pretty nicely specced, the only thing going for it (I guess…) is the fact that it’s a major overhaul of the Android OS. I only had one for just under 5 days to play with before my friend came back home (it was his, and arrived in the mail while he was out of town, and was cool enough to let me play with it since I was watching his mail), and 5 days isn’t enough time to really get into all of the ins-and-outs of it, but I wasn’t blown away, or even pleasantly surprised.  I hope this doesn’t end up being the Windows Vista of Android – like I said, I only had a bit less than 5 days,  and I do have a job, kids, and things to do, but I was disappointed, actually. I hope that time proves me wrong – and they get Flash on the thing.

          3. ur 1 hatin azz bytch, stop trollin u dicksnot

          4. I can’t understand anything you’re saying. Sorry, but I don’t speak Retard. You should really stay in school and pay attention in English class.

          5. Since it won’t let me reply to your last comment…
I appreciate your feedback.  Flash is something that I do like having and also hope they will support ICS soon.  But it looks like this will be the last installment so I suppose the future needs to get here fast because online web browsing with phones and tablets is becoming the norm.  But that is just something we will have to deal with….Apple hasn’t had it yet and look at the fan base they have.
You stated your opinion so I don’t want to sound like I am trying to counter your points for the sake of arguing.  TO ME…the camera will perform just fine.  I have never blown a picture up to poster size so I know it doesn’t matter.  Lens and shutter are what do matter and I have heard good stuff about this one.
I am used to not having physical buttons with my tablet and love how they disappear when watching video or gaming.  I want the entire front of the phone to be used for the screen – maximize the real estate.  Bigger is better for my poor eyesight.
And yes, there are some jokers who think the world will end without this phone but trolls exist everywhere.
            Good chat…thanks.

          6. btw, underwhelmed…windows vista of android…dude u have no clue wtf ur talkin about so go eat a bag of baby dix

  3. aww you deleted my awesome back to the future reference :(

  4. VZW is a FUSTER CLUCK!!!  They can announce crappy white version of a crappy product, but they can’t announce a Google phone?!?!?

If people did not want the Razr before, which I hope is a majority, how many are going to want a white one?

  5. …well…on the bright side…since they are announcing this crap for a release tomorrow, maybe they will also announce that other highly anticipated phone that shall remain nameless… [cough, cough] gnex [cough, cough]

  6. Well now that they have the RAZR in white, I just have to buy it. Groundbreaking.

    1. besides being retard like most on here…this is abour a white razr..go talk to verizon..or on vzw blog…seriously…not enough room on the short bus.

  7. At this point, I think Verizon’s just trolling us.
Wait no, that’s not this point, I figured that out like a month ago.

  8. My feelings remain hurt.

  9. this is the biggest horse Shit. No one gives a shit about a white version of the razr, especially given the fact that it’s only white around the edges. Give us the damn Nexus already!

  10. Haha awkward…. I like that :/

  11. I, for one, and super excited about this news.  I’ve been waiting and waiting for this white RAZR since the original RAZR was released.  I’m a bit bummed it’s still 90% black, but oh well – it still has hints of white.  I’ll definitely be in for one of these amazing bad-boys! /s

    1. …srsly?

      1. Of course he’s serious. he probably wants a phone with flash.

  12. vzw has a problem.

  13. well, maybe if we just pretend the white razr is the galaxy nexus. i mean, they’re both kinda similar.. and.. well, uh.. they both have screens.. with colors.. and you can use both to.. take pictures..?

oh god it’s not working IT’S NOT WORKING

    1. it will never work :(

  14. Take it to twitter… #VZWNEXUSFAIL

  15. I did the normal human thing and saw the first and last parts of the headlight first. So I saw Verizon announces and December 15th. My heart started to race until I then got to the middle…..

Doesn’t make it any better that I held a G-Nex this morning but of course couldn’t buy it.

  16. I’m gonna kidnap the CEO of Verizon’s kids, hint that I’ll release them on several dates and then announce on the expected date that I’m gonna give him someone elses kids that no one wants

    1. don’t be surprised if a couple black SUVs roll up on your lawn in a few min after that post

      1. If they do, can you ask them when the G.N. will be released? That is, before they hood you.

      2. Aw, c’mon, Clark Griswold said the exact same thing, and no one got in troub….  on second thought, you might want to edit that!  :)

    2. Does the devil have kids?

  17. I have VZW and I will continue to use VZW since I am grandfathered in with unlimited data, but I really hope ATT sells the Nexus. I want them to release a statement also saying how well the Nexus did in sales and how it beat out all other android devices. Then VZW will never get an ‘exclusive’ deal again!

Its sad that the UK, Canada and now Australia will all have a Nexus device before us.

    1. do you know how stupid and childish you sound? Verizon gets what they want and nothing u say of do will change that.

      1. They didn’t get the S2…did they? Let’s see if they get the S3.

  18. what happened to double the data?

  19. Looks like something that came out of Li’l Sebastion’s pooper.

    1. haha ron effing rules

  20. Well at least we know why they delayed the phone they know everyone wants…. I think its funny when you search their website for galaxy nexus it brings up a little add for it and the Droid xy board lol

  21. this doesn’t help that the epic gnex thread is down on the forums!!

  22. IS VERIZON SERIOUS!!! No one cares about this phone. Why don’t you give us some news about what people really care about. They are trying so hard to sell this Razr not realizing there is a whole group of people waiting for them to release the Gnex. Don’t they want to make money?

    1. yes, you’ve got to be kidding. just because in your tunnel vision, geeky mind you believe EVERYONE must want a GN because you want one and you read on phandroid that everyone wants one. Try expanding your vision to the real world where people arent as tech savvy. Where people compare a super thin solidly built phone to a plastic phone and see which one wins out. Sure, most here will want a gn, but apple has proven that the latest tech doesnt always win out. Verizon will sell a crapload of RAZR’s because the average person is more visual than technical and plastic desnt make a good initial impression.

  23. I’m sorry but this is bullshit. At this point i firmly believe the Nexus on Verizon will not be released in 2011.

  24. Verizon can take their white razr and slit their wrists. Just release the Nexus already!

  25. Out of everything that has happened so far, this has pretty much confirmed no gnexus tomorrow

  26. Im getting real tired of VZ playing games…January comes and i the GNEX is not released and imma get this POS and wait a year for motorola to put ICS on it

  27. I vote that all of us planning on getting the GNex buy it ANYWHERE but Verizon, best buy, Costco, whatever! So that Verizon can make as little money as possible from the Phone, cuz you KNOW that’d why they do crap like this is to make as much money as possible and they couldn’t care less about us

    1. I was thinking the same thing, but I don’t think it really matters, they are getting your money anyway from the contract. If you really are that pissed wait until it comes out on T mobile or AT&T and get it there.

  28. what…the…F@#%!!!

  29. YES!!!!! Just what I have been waiting for! Thank you Verizon for giving the customers what they ask for………….assholes

  30. I’m taking this as good news because it gives more credit to the internal documents that were leaked yesterday:
    http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus/401681-official-galaxy-nexus-pre-release-thread-two-internal-document-showing-12-15-release-12-14-a.html

  31. I actually called my local VZW store this morning and they confirmed they are planning on a Galaxy Nexus release for tomorrow morning.  I set an appointment at open and was assured they would hold it for me… so here’s hoping I come out of the store with a GNex and not a shinny new set of handcuffs, haha.

  32. Not that this is confirmation, but I called my local Verizon in Carrollton, Ga and they stated that I should be able to buy a Nexus tomorrow! Really hoping for it this time!

  33. Seriosuly? You make a press release for this white poop but still no official word on the GNex?!?!

I love how 100% of the comments are all about the Nexus!! No one cares Verizon… NO ONE!!

  34. Motorola must have theirs fingers up verizon’s ass gentle rubbing the prostate.

  35. I agree with Andrew. I also expect a soft launch. I don’t remember there being any big carrier announcements when the first two were launched.

  36. Maybe I’m missing something.  What is all the outrage about??  So Verizon has announced a different variant of a phone they already have.

Part of the reason Verizon hasn’t announced the Galaxy Nexus is over their issues with Google Wallet.  Not saying I support them on that issue, but they have to have those issues resolved before launch.

By all accounts it appears as though the Galaxy Nexus will launch on the 15th.  Not sure why some people seem to be using this Motorola announcement to suggest that the G.N. won’t launch on the 15th.  They’re unrelated.  Moreover, Verizon already has the Droid Razr and is now just providing a white variant.

  37. I would also add that their marketing plans are working.  Look how many people are outraged by the lack of information.  The whole secretive approach is absolutely paying off. And the reality is there is no competition for the Galaxy Nexus as its the only ICS phone out there.  So if you want ICS you’re going to wait for the Galaxy Nexus.  They’re in a no lose situation and all that’s happening now is more and more buzz is being generated about its looming launch date.

  38. btw, underwhelmed…windows vista of android…dude u have no clue wtf ur talkin about so go eat a bag of baby dix

  39. Luckily got vzw in my mall to sell me the phone, nice having buddies that wrk for vzw…its sweet and will be out tommorow for all to njoy
