HTC Quattro is a Rumored Quad-Core Tegra 3 Beats Tablet

21

Another day, another rumored tablet. Another new rumored HTC device, period. This time we’re being treated to an early look at the HTC Quattro, a 10.1 inch tablet rumored to have NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor inside.

Alongside all that juice there will be 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 4.0, 5GHz WiFi N, 16GB of internal storage, a 2 megapixel HD rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel 720p HD front camera.

Beats Audio technology is also said to be inside for better quality sound in music, movies and more. This would make it the first android tablet to get Beats audio, though we’re sure only HTC tablets will get the opportunity. Early 2012 is said to be the drop date for the thing, though we certainly wouldn’t hold our breath too long with other options right around the corner. [PocketNow]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. sigh. beats audio is a nice concept, but what it ends up being is just a surcharge raising the price of the phone. Why are a few phones starting to incorporate that? It’s not superior quality in any way, just marketing gimmick + branding.

    1. It’s not superior quality in any way? Have you used HTC’s earbuds that come with their phones? They’re horrible. I’m not a big Beats fan by any means, but hell. As far as phone audio goes, it’s the best we have right now.

      1. not even close. It’s an average option that is bundled with the phone. The ones that came with samsung phones previously were actually pretty good.

You can buy waaay waaay better. even a pair of in the ear sennheisers wont run you more than 30 or 40 bucks and be a million times better

        1. I fully agree with you, but we’re talking about HTC, not Samsung. HTC never had great headphones. They were about the worst. Uncomfortable, tinny sounding, completely shitty headphones. So at least they’re making an effort to change that. And, the Beats headphones are about the best that come in a box with the phone, at least to my knowledge.

          1. I agree with ya. Even though I am an audiophile, I’ve always found that getting a decent set of headphones is like $10 or $20 anyway, and at that point you can get what you want. I’m pretty sure a $20 set of headphones would be $40 with the BEATS MARKING stuff etc etc. That was kinda my concern. Like I bet this phone would have been under $200 to start with had it not been for that. Who knows how much they charge.

          2. I hear ya, I’ve got a little home studio, so I kind of have to be an audiophile too, which is why I’m glad HTC is at least trying with decent headphones. Overpriced, but still decent.

  2. How come we aren’t seeing NFC creeping into tablets?  I am about ready to stop carrying a phone and only carry a tablet with a cellular radio in it.

I mean have the man purse with me all the time anyway… :)

  3. The first “android” tablet with beats. HP Touchpad was the first tablet with beats audio.

    1. Thank you, HP touchpad does have beats audio and its great…

  4. Better change that name before Audi sues you.

  5. And they thought a lawsuit from “Vivid” the porn company was a problem, just wait until Volkswagon Auto Group sues them for the Quattro name seeing as Audi has that name trademarked.

    1. what about Schick Quattro?? The razor lol

  6. I thought the hp touchpad had beats audio. It even says it in my settings.
    o_O

  7. Beats audio does make a song quality with no static but I don’t see HTC not putting at least a 5 mp camera on this after the Jetstream had an 8. And they should start making front camera better then back cameras on tablets. When are you really going to need to take a really good picture with a tablet.

  8. Sprint, please!  Bad enough the Jetstream is on AT&T.   :(

  9. Why not name it ” HTC Affordable ” suckas!!

  10. 1 gig of Ram. At what point is that not going to be enough. I feel like 1 gig of RAM is really limiting the long term value of a tablet. I’d feel much better if these quad core tablets had 2 gigs or more. It really can not be that much more expensive.

  11. Called it in a previous thread!

  12. This diagonal stripe on the picture is showing how ugly reflective screen have this tablet? Epic promo fail.

  13. Schick will probably get annoyed at the name http://www.schickquattro.com/sq_home_flash.cfm
