Android PSA: Music Purchases Are Now Available In Your Market App

16

Just a friendly reminder that music purchases are now becoming available for Android users (in the US) via the Market app. The version of the Android Market actually remains the same as this functionality was actually hidden inside the most recent update the entire time.

I can confirm that both my Nexus S and Evo 3D are now able to purchase music from the Market so, if you haven’t opened your Android Market app today — jump in there now and pick up some free tracks from artists like Busta Ryhmes.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

I think its amazing how far the Android Market has come in the past year.  The latest version is absolutely brilliant!

  3. Works as well using the HTC Sensation, with a section also for TMobile free tracks

    1. Yeah, I noticed a new Sprint area for mines..

      1. what songs does sprint give you for free?

      2. Thats Cool!  Where is the Sprint area exactly?.. Im not seeing it on my E4GT.  Thanks.

    2. i noticed that but they are songs i could care less about

  4. I can get to the music through a bit of searching but there isn’t a music link on my homepage, odd.

On a side note I just noticed the color coding Google’s using in the market to designate different types of downloads (Movies, Books, Music, Apps) and it’s pretty fancy. Perhaps I’m behind the times though :P

  5. Nice, i just don’t have the tab for “MUSIC” but i see two album templates.

Hmm….who’s album should i buy now?

    EDIT: GOT IT NOW

IF DON’T HAVE MUSIC TAB FOLLOW THESE STEPS

    1. GO TO SETTINGS
    2.Tap Applications
    3.Tap Manage Applications
    4.Tap the “ALL” tab
5.Scroll down to till you see Market, tap that
6.Tap “CLEAR DATA” and Tap “CLEAR Cache”
7.Exit out and open up the Market and it just have just some mumbo-jumbo click accept and you have the Music TAB in the market to download music.

ENJOY Folks let this be the itunes killer. :)

More Good News too, since the MUSIC app has been updated it should have an market logo to music section.

do the same clear data and clear cache for the Goolge Music App and you’ll the Market logo bottom right corner *you will have re-sync your songs though if they are in the cloud*

  6. All you have to do is go to settings/manage applications/go to market/clear cache and data/restart app. That worked for me.

    1. And I also recommend the new album by Caveman “CoCo Beware” only .99 for the whole album!

  7. Not seeing it on my Motorola Droid with CM7. I cleared the app cache, still not showing. Anyone have an updated APK they can share?

  8. Don’t forget about Canada Google!!! Don’t forget about us!!!!!

  9. Do the actual mp3s’s download to your phone or computer, or just get saved in the cloud?

  10. Is there any news on when Google Music will be jumping across the pond to Europe?

  11. if you don’t have an android, you don’t have access to Google music, witch offers a better experience and pricing than itunes. if you don’t have an android then well, you don’t have an android.
