Try Out an Early Version of CM7 for Your DROID Bionic

8

As we’ve come to expect with any phone by now, developers are hard at work trying to get CyanogenMod 7 (the Gingerbread one) up on the Motorola DROID Bionic. This is by no means a daily driver but if you want to give it a shot and provide input on the project, find instructions and downloads here. The video of it in action is above if you prefer to be eyes-on. [Thanks Jordy!]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. i no everyone will most likely think im crazy but the only 2 phones im considering getting is the bionic (for free on contract) or galaxy nexus which wont be free but is pure Google. i truthfully think its hard choice id save 300 dollars getting a bionic it most likely will depend if cm7 is running(well) on droid bionic on Nov.10 even though still may choice galaxy but o well

    1. The thing you are not mentioning is that CM7 or CM9 will never be fully implemented on the Moto phones due to the locked bootloader. You won’t get the Kernel modifications and the improved battery life that you will with the Nexus phones. I have a DX running CM7 now and the battery life is better on GB than Froyo, but still not the best. Yeah I can increase it with Juice Defender, but I’d rather just have a battery that lasts 12 hours or so.

As much as I love Moto’s build quality, I love CM better and won’t get another Moto until they unlock the bootloader and i don’t have to deall with 2nd Init ROMS.

      1. Thanks for the information! Now I know why I don’t get as much battery improvements as I expected from my DroidX.

    2. Who has it for free on contract? Find that hard to believe. Bionic isn’t that old. Still if I were you I’d get the galaxy. Locked bootloader is a deal breaker.

      1. idk if it is still a penny on amazon but i figure it will be free once razr comes out, but i think ill prob get nexus i already made my incredible look like a nexus galaxy :)

        1. It was the incredible that was a penny not the bionic.

          1. The Bionic was a penny with a new account. It most likely will be reduced to a penny once the RAZR comes out

  2. Photon has an unlocked bootloader and a couple of semi functioning cm7 roms.
