Google Posts Better-Than-Projected Q3 Earnings With $9.72 Billion in Revenue

Google’s financial conference call for the third quarter of 2011 is going on right now and they’ve announced some very good numbers. They’re on the upswing with $9.72 billion in revenue and $2.7 billion in profit. Without going into a bucket of specifics, we’ll just say “wow.”

$2.5 billion of that revenue came from Google’s mobile business. When we say mobile business, we’re, of course, referring to mobile search and ads. It’s amazing that $2.5 billion in revenue can be generated from people using mobile phones and tablets.

Google said that mobile would be a very important part of their strategy – considering more than a 4th of this quarter’s revenue came from that avenue, we’d say their prediction was right. Their numbers were driven by 190 million Android units activated to date.

In other news, Google+ has reached the 40 million mark – modest up against Facebook’s 800 million+, but Facebook wasn’t exactly huge when it first started out either. Yes, we do acknowledge that such a social network was fairly new at the time. Anyway, there it all is. We’ve got a bit more coming from the conference call so stay tuned.
