Source: Announcement on Nexus Prime Unveiling is Imminent

We have yet to get a Nexus Prime announcement, but we may soon get the next best thing. According to a reliable source, an announcement on the rescheduling of Samsung and Google’s unveiling of the Ice Cream Sandwich flagship device should be made soon. Our insider also had some reassuring words for those concerned about how the phone that may very well launch as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will handle resource-hungry games:

“As far as the Nexus goes, you can let people know that they don’t have to worry about gaming speed/graphics. It’ll be plenty. Also, an announcement on the unveiling is imminent. So hang tight.”

Those were the words passed along to the staff at Android Forums. Speaking of which, if you’d like to jump in on the growing discussion and speculation surrounding the upcoming handset, you can head over to the ultimate Nexus Prime thread by following the link below.

      1. haha me too

      2. she even asked me, “aren’t they announcing your new phone tomorrow?” (this was yesterday). sad face ensued.

        1. Same thing on my side. My finacee is getting the iPhone4s and we’re now just waiting on the Nexus Prime to make the move to Verizon (mostly for the service coverage, but also for the phones). She’s been annoyed that my phone hasn’t had an official announcement yet.

  6. So this is an announcement that there’ll be an announcement. ;-)

    1. And this is a comment on your comment about an announcement on an announcement.

Good thing that going meta is trendy.

      1. Immineception!

  7. I love words like “imminent”, they’re so very ripe for use in hype-speak and political double-talk. The word *sounds* so urgent and impending so we feel like we can hang on just a little longer…But it’s BULLSHIT because it doesn’t actually tell us a timeframe. We talking hours? Days? Weeks?… At the time of the sun’s “imminent” burn-out?

Bah! Just fricken announce and release the phone already! You want my money, I want to give it…Let’s do it!

    1. I think they mean at the time of the sun’s “imminent” burn-out.

  8. Why ANYBODY would worry about it running games/apps is beyond me. Especially if it has an Exynos running @ 1.5in ghz in it. He’ll, the rumored TI 1.2 ghz would be plenty. Also, it has 1 gb of RAM. My DX2 with a 1.0 ghz Tegra 2 and 512mb runs EVERYTHING fine. Have yet to see any troubles. Plus having custom kernals on the Prime, you’ll have no issues.

  9. STOP IT!!! 4 announcements about the Nexus Prime and its only 4pm EST. This is yet another pointless announcement that provides no real information.

We know its imminent…the damn phone exists and will DEFINITELY be announced – hence “imminent”.

  10. Dave NAILED it. An announcement of the announcement. We need to get a life. It’ll be here when it’s here.

AT&T or Verizon, that’s the real issue for me. Comments?

  11. “AS YOU WISH!”

  12. My money… take it! NOW!

    1. Ok if you say so…..so how are we going to make this transaction….PayPal?

  13. This article is a waste of space..

    1. Your comment is a waste of space..

I felt the need to waste a little more space on this wasteful page…

  14. So getting this thing. My trusty old HTC Desire is showing her age. Gave the old girl a rejuvenation dose with some cyanogenMod, but the small screen and RAM size are holding her back.

  15. Make one more Nexus Prime “imminent” or ‘announcement’ coming soon post, i dare you. I double dare you.

    1. As you wish!

  16. Imagine if “imminent” meant this week at CTIA? Hmmmm

  17. I thought women like it when you delay the release. Not sure why all these women are complaining.

  18. Weren’t we supposed to have specs, and more today? WTF happened?!!! I am about to get a damn iphone, I like Siri.

    1. Wait, you didn’t hear it got delayed?

      1. Yeah, I did after I posted this comment. Still, its BS.

    2. I like Siri too but I need to see some real world test not the ones where everyone is all quiet.

      1. You are right. With my droid sitting on the windshield of my car, it has a tremendous amount of trouble understanding what I am saying when I am driving. Sometimes even when I am not driving. If SIRI is similar than it will be another problematic voice to txt app.

  19. ok i have a question… supposedly the nexus prime is coming or eventually coming to all carriers, so that would be the four major carriers: T-Mo, Big Red, Sprint and ATT… so here’s my question would the nexus prime work on smaller reign/carriers like Metro PCS?

  20. Imminent in the tech world is the same as when your a kid, and your parents say “soon”. It can mean anything from 10^-43 second and 10¹°° years.

  21. The comments in this article are FULL of WIN!! Article? Didn’t even read it :p

    1. Actually the comments were all very annoying. I had no idea what they were talking about. I’m ready for the Internet world to get over the whole “win” phase too.

      1. Not familiar with “The Princess Bride” ?????
