Is this the Samsung Galaxy S III? Further Details Leak on Samsung’s Next Flagship

56

Today we were greeted with a rather surprising tip in our inbox. An anonymous source forwarded a snapshot of a slide supposedly shown as part of an internal presentation on smartphone evolution to carrier and retail representatives. The slide in particular detailed the progression of Samsung’s Galaxy S line, culminating in an image  of and some initial specs for the manufacturer’s next flagship device.

According to the image, the Galaxy S III will feature a dual-core 1.8GHz Exynos 4212 processor (no quad-core just yet), 2GB of RAM, a 12MP camera, and a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display. That screen technology would provide HD resolution without falling back on the PenTile technology found in Samsung’s current generation of HD displays. Our source noted that these particular displays are not fully baked at this point in time. The camera would deploy the W750 BSI CMOS sensor and the phone will feature LTE and NFC support. Unlike the upcoming Nexus Prime, the Galaxy S III will not use a curved display and the design language of the phone will apparently differ from the current Galaxy S lineup to avoid future legal issues. The GS3 is said to be even thinner than the GS2. While the handset will run on the upcoming Android Ice Cream Sandwich build, it will reportedly retain four physical buttons.

It should be noted that this information is unconfirmed at this time, and we would be remiss to not point out a few obvious flaws in the actual image. The original Galaxy S is listed as shipping with an Exynos CPU and other typos can be found. Could this be a clever fake? It’s definitely possible. Take it with a grain of salt but the details seem pretty spot on in most respects.

    3. yes u r right,it’s a fake and a really bad indeed!
i found interesting facts about Samsung Galaxy S3 here:

      http://goo.gl/v0pH3 and here: http://goo.gl/s8htV

i think these facts r more correct

      1. first info about update / upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich found here: http://goo.gl/HrLBp

    4. yeah, is a fake!
but for Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Gingerbread 2.3.5 is now available!!!

  6. The Hummingbird process is renamed Exynos:
    http://www.slashgear.com/samsung-rebrands-exynos-processor-family-hummingbird-flies-away-11132829/

The only Cortex A8 1GHz processor was the Hummingbird and now it is the Exynos 3110.

  7. For the record, no private internal presentation I have ever viewed contained the words “Private Internal Presentation” on ANY part of the presentation. And everyone else already picked apart the word COPIYING, so I don’t really need to go there.

    1. I will say when I worked for Comcast everything that was for internal use said that it was private and for internal use only, and even put a footnote saying not to copy

  8. “Samsung Mobile Solution” gives away a fake too. Should be Solutions.

  9. this is bs lol….

  10. Even if it were real, looks like software buttons to me…

  11. I would hope someone at Samsung would be able to throw together a much better presentation than this – I call fake, too.

  12. I’m pretty sure that’s a Sony Ericsson phone with a Samsung screenshot mixed together.

  13. These comments were entertaining. Thanks for the laugh anonymous tipster :p.

  14. “and the design language of the phone will apparently differ from the current Galaxy S lineup to avoid future legal issues”

Good because nobody liked it looking like an iphone either.

  15. Ha!! And Krause thinks “the details seem pretty spot on”… What a buffoon.

  16. you’d think they would have internal images that would have transparent space behind the phones instead of whitespace. I call fake… but I certainly cannot wait to upgrade my GS to the GS3

  17. Clearly a photoshopped Samsung Wave: http://bit.ly/nCJMcw

  18. if the SGS III is still going to be a Dual Core Handset then tsk, tsk, tsk … quads are coming out in December folks…

  19. that old ass wallpaper is a dead givaway

    1. That’s exactly it.

  20. This is fake most likely. If anything, US won’t see SGS3 until late summer next year.

  21. Looks like i waited the perfect time to get the SIII. While you guys on all carriers enjoy your SII my upgrade is next year just glad I got my Atrix few months ago so next year Ill be enjoying my Galaxy S III. Cant wait till CES 11′.

  22. It’s not a ‘clever fake’. It’s an awful fake. Why on earth are you giving credence to your ‘anonymous source’ by posting it? He’s laughing his head off right now.

Not worthy of reporting or reproduction.

  23. My sgs2 typically has 500+ megs of free ram, 2 gb is overkill. I don’t see the point. IMHO Samsung should work on making their radios more reliable than specs that aren’t really necessary for a cell phone.

    1. If you don’t need a high-end phone than don’t buy the SGS3

  24. I bet this fake pic is made by apple to reduce the sales of nexus prime :-)

  25. Seems like there is finally a camera-button on the side

  26. You guys think the GS III is great? Just wait till you see the GS IV! It poops magic and money!!!!

Sometimes i just shake my head at how obsessed we are with the next new “great” things, before the new has even worn off the current thing.x-x

  27. Is it that slow of news day that we’re forced to believe this is real?

  28. This article is ridiculous.

  29. Probably fake, looks a lot like the Wave and it has 4 buttons instead of 3!

  30. Why even bother with something so clearly fake?

  31. Samsung retroactively renamed the Hummingbird processor to the Exynos 3110.
As you can see here[1], the Samsung Nexus S is mentioned to have the Exynos 3110, which we know is the Hummingbird processor.

    [1]: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/products/mobilesoc/Exynos/showcase.html

  32. hahahaha why would they use a simple power point template… dahhh….FAKEEEE

  33. Fake…

    – “Samsung Mobile Solution” instead of “Samsung Mobile Solutions”
    – Crappy design/layout.
    – Copiying instead of “copying”.
    – “Private Internal Presantation” is not “good English” probably translated by someone who does not speak English natively.

I doubt Samsung would accept any of these errors/mistakes.

  34. thats a huge BULSHIT !!!!!

  35. Man, I want a quad core processor :( I hope they’ll change their minds and put a quad core processor in the phone, that would be revolutionary.

  36. Whoever made the screenshot is important. The screen they’re using is a Cisco EX90, costing around $10k.

  37. Features are great!
It has 1.8GHz procesor, 12MP cam with CMOS sensor and Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS…..

  38. found NEW!!! interesting stuff about Samsung Galaxy S3

    http://goo.gl/8fVKo

    enjoy!

  39. Oh yeah, I can really believe that Samsung officials would write “COPIYING” or “Private Internal Presentation” (LOL… -_-) on official presentation slides, or use those display images for their phones (you REALLY should know better, phandroid….). Plus, that “S III” is a slightly modified LG Jil Sander. WHAT A CHEAP FAIL you chose to post as “news”…

  40. Samsung Galaxy S gets Android Ice Cream Sandwich, i don’t belive it but its seems to be true and not a dream!
    found here: http://goo.gl/L1qNl

  41. Of course, we have no way of knowing, but I think this may be real. Why?

    (1) Koreans notoriously have a poor command of the English language. It’s not surprising for them to make spelling mistakes in an internal document. If this was a US company, sure, it would automatically point out for it to be fake. But, in the case of a Korean company, it’s more likely to be fake if there aren’t spelling mistakes in their internal documents.

    (2) Galaxy S III is correctly showing the five main icons of the Ice-Cream Sandwich, instead of four. How would they get this right, as the Ice-Cream Sandwich wasn’t unveiled until ten days later?

Again, we have no way of knowing, but this has a good chance of being real.
