It was only last week we saw 26 new cities light up with Big Red’s blazing fast 4G LTE. That brought the grand total to 143 markets in the U.S. covered with all that high speed data goodness. Making good on that 175 new markets by year’s-end promise, Verizon is set to flip their 4G LTE switch in another 21 new cities on October 21st. According to Electronista, the new cities on that list will be

  • Green Bay, WI
  • Bloomington, IN
  • Bedford, IN
  • Mitchell, IN
  • Evansville, IN
  • Birmingham, AL
  • Albuquerque, NM
  • Santa Fe, NM
  • Terre Haute, IN
  • South Bend, IN
  • Mishawaka, IN
  • Elkhart, IN
  • Goshen, IN
  • Sioux City, IA
  • Buffalo, NY
  • Niagara, NY
  • Modesto, CA
  • Stockton, CA

Expanded markets:

  • Greater Erie, PA
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • San Diego, CA

Did your city make the list? Here’s to hoping the expanded coverage in LA means I get a little more LTE spritz in my direction.

  1. Well, Indiana should be happy – almost a third of the cities are there.

    1. True, but none of those cities are even slightly worthwhile even by Indiana standards except maybe Bloomington (I.U.). There is still a huge population around the Indy suburbs with no 4G. I’m still confused as to how they are picking where they upgrade to LTE. Seems pretty random to me.

  2. They’ll know how bad Notre Dame is getting beat even faster now.

  3. I wonder when Grand Rapids, Mi with expand their coverage?

  4. I still see nothing for the Hampton Roads, Virginia area…No virginia at all I think, wtf verizon?

    1. You have cellphones in Virginia?!

      ;]

    2. I’ve heard some rumors of it coming to Richmond and possibly the VA Beach area in October. I had asked a Verizon CSR last month and they didn’t have any concrete dates so I’m kind of doubting that.

  5. Hamton Roads area in Virginia is being left behind when it comes to getting LTE. Not sure why. We have the world’s largest Navy base.

  6. North Dakota has some sexy 4G/LTE, though :)

  7. Does anyone know if and when there gonna go to longview Washington with 4g lte

  8. Chris i love this news Buffalo is on the list finally maybe this is due to the heavy promo they been doing all summer at shows and other venues. Cant wait

  9. I spoke with an in store agent and they said the Hampton Roads & Richmond area would get LTE in october but this is conflicting.

  10. BUFFALO!!! Finally get some real use out of my TB

  11. Albuquerque and Santa Fe Finally!!!!!!

  12. uggggh. WTF?! Little Rock was on the list for the first half of this year. Now, Lte is in 4 metros in Arkansas…and still no Little Rock announcement! They better hope they cover a huge ass area, to be taking this long. Just saying.

    1. No kidding, but I’m not surprised, either. Just last weekend, I noticed a cell site in Bryant get upgraded (maybe to LTE). Maybe November. I agree with you on them covering a huge chunk of Central AR.

    2. “taking this long”? Are you kidding me right now? There’s no other carrier in the country that’s been pushing out their next gen 4g service as fast as big red has. Learn a little patience for christsakes.

      1. It’s frustrating, because Little Rock was supposed to be launched before first half ended (there was a problem with the contractors, which slowed everything down). If your market was in the same boat as that area, you’d feel the same way.

  13. Verizon Adding Another 21 Cities To The 4G LTE List On October 21st is well.
i like it. To download theme please visit http://www.themeandroid.net

  14. I wonder when Alma Ga, will get coverage… hmmm

  15. Buffalo, NY

    :D

  16. When I bought my Bionic on launch day, the local rep said Richmond and Petersburg area would be getting it in October. When I was walking to the parking lot at work yesterday, 4G lit up on my phone for a minute or 2 and then went away. I guess they are testing the system now for roll out.

  17. More coverage for LA? /pray. My little town is surrounded with 4g, but no 4g love for it….
