Samsung i727 Shows Up at FCC with 4G LTE

12

Looks like AT&T will soon unveil one of the first LTE phones set to be launched sometime later this year. One Samsung i727 has passed the FCC and has those nice 4G LTE radios inside to take care of AT&T’s forthcoming “real 4G” network.

Although only a few cities have coverage right now, AT&T expects to roll the service out to a respectable amount more by the end of the year.

As for the phone, some are speculating it could be a Samsung Galaxy S II with LTE radios inside, but we’d advise everyone to set their expectations much lower – you know, to save yourself from disappointment and all. [Thanks Josh!]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. and just where is the VZW prime?? HMMM???

  2. Could this be At&t’s Prime?? More importantly, I would like to know more about Verizon’s Prime. :(

    1. lol no, do you honestly think google will out their next nexus phone on a lte network that’s only in a handful of cities?

      1. I agree this is not the nexus prime, but AT&T ‘s limited LTE network is not going to be Google’s concern. The prime is going to have lte radios, but it’s not like it won’t work on 3g as well. Besides, the selling points of the nexus prime are ics and the “google experience device” status. For me, and probably a lot of other people, LTE is just the icing on the cake.

  3. If AT&T gets an LTE Samsung Galaxy S II before verizon I’m switching carriers.

    1. Don’t switch just for a phone. Our covergae is awful!!!

    2. Looks like you’re going to switch. It is known that Verizon isn’t getting GSII, but another variant. Also, ATT is releasing their SGII on September 18. Get ready to switch your carrier =P

    3. If this is LTE SGS2 and AT&T gets it before Prime on Verizon, I would be pissed off too. Both carrier works fine on my area, so switching carrier would be very tempting for me.

    4. Also….if its a GS2-like LTE phone for AT&T….why get the GS2 thats HSPDA?

  4. AT&T in Boston area still isn’t pushing much above 650 killabits download speed. The upload speed are so pathetic 200 killabits. They have this area listed in their coverage map as their fastest data area and after calling they still swear to it. They are phonies who can not tell their customers the truth for anything. I will never use AT&T. T-Mobile in this very same area is pushing out over 8.5 mb download and upload is over 3.0 mb. If the smallest carrier can push out those #’s what is wrong with AT&T?? This is Boston not some small town out in no mans land.
