Vizio 8 Inch Android Tablet First of its Kind to Get Hulu Plus

2

While we’re a bit disappointed that Hulu has yet to bring their services to tablets and Android devices other than phones, we can’t be mad that they’re at least trying. Today, we can scratch the “first tablet with Hulu Plus” milestone off the list as The Vizio 8 inch Android tablet has been added to the list of supported devices. It’s no Honeycomb tablet, but there it is anyway. If you’ve already gotten one of these to go along with your Vizio internet-connected TV (which should also have Hulu Plus) go ahead and grab from the Android market. (Market listing not yet updated to reflect the change.)

  1. It’s BS that you can’t just go to Hulu.com and watch shows. What is Hulu so afraid of?

    1. They are slower to embrace the new (ahem, 10 years “new”) digital medium than the record labels were. Apparently they don’t realize that not only is it incredibly easy to programmatically inject advertising (removing it for premium paid accounts), but that they could be effectively double-dipping on their advertisers by targeting ads to the preferences of the user.

Commercials and ads are a fact that we will always have to deal with, but if I HAVE to watch a commercial then at least show me one that is at least marginally relevant to me as a consumer.

Once they figure out that they are shooting themselves in the foot by fighting this digital movement tooth & nail, I see some great advancements being made in the IPTV space and their 50 year old revenue model finally dying a bloody death.
