HTC Vigor Could Be First Beats by Dre Handset

20

Aside from sporting a 4.3-inch 720p HD display, 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, and 1GB of RAM, the HTC Vigor could blast some serious bass if new rumors pan out. Following HTC’s acquisition, the speaker technology found in Beats by Dre headphones will find a home in future Android handsets from the manufacturer. The HTC Vigor could be among the first, even sporting Beats branding on the case (which is said to resemble the HTC Thunderbolt sans kickstand). The reported Gingerbread handset will run a next-gen version of HTC Sense when it launches, though the specifics on when that will be remain a closely guarded secret.

  1. I am so looking forward to this phone hitting Verizon. I hope this phone rocks my socks off.

  2. Yeah, I am looking forward to it as well. I was hyped over the Bionic and still want to have some hands on time, but I really want to see what comes to fruition with the Vigor.

  3. Booooooooo. Beats is terrible. Why couldn’t they partner with Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic?

    1. Its better than no equalizer/enhanced audio options.

      1. +1

    2. I will have to agree that there are plenty of companies out there with better products than Beats, but Beats is well known to consumers. Love it or hate it, everyone knows of it.

    3. Meh, terrible or not, any improvement over a tin-y sounding generic cell phone speaker is fine by me.

  4. Great, should I assume there will be ~5 beats related bloatware apps on the phone? And as mentioned, beats is terrible, I just pray that bose stays out of the phone audio business

    1. Bose > Beats.

    2. Bose sound is amazing-what are you smoking?

      1. Looks like someone skipped over 6th grade math.

  5. That phone sounds ..ridiculous.

Hoping it’ll pack a car battery inside it.

  6. When rumors first hit the street about the Vigor, it was a 4.5″ device with a 1.5GHz dual-core Tegra 2 and 720p display. Now it’s a 4.3″ although I don’t recall when that changed. I wonder what other features will be “normalized” when this finally become real?

Like yesterday’s fake announcement of the Samsung “roadmap”, I am beginning to suspect that the best specs are only available on the vaporware versions of the phones.

  7. The best thing here is patience. Since many have waited a while, we can wait a little longer. In early Oct, you can compare all the phones together: Bionic (at a discount), SGS2 (at a discount), iPhone 5, Vigor Revolution 2, and any other that pops up.

All I have to say is 720p resolution on 4.3″ is going to be a serious contender. That is a load of pixels in a small area. I hope it is sweet.

  8. it just a phone with a music app….

    1. Well not exactly…. its a phone with a decent speaker….

  9. Forget the speaker, I’m hoping for a decent DAC – way more people will be using headphones than speaker anyhow.

  10. Lol it’ll be a sub woofer boxed enclosure with a screen, cellular antenna and headphone jack.

  11. A REALLY rockin’ Android phone could open up a whole new genre of smartphones.

  12. Oh come on stop trolling! Finally Verizon gets a flagship phone! I was a big fan of motorola (Droid, Droid X), those in their time were true flagship phones. The X2 and bionic are equipped with screens from 2006 and the Charge is a mix between awesome hardware and horrible hardware, the thunderbolt is great except it has an outdated screen and battery life. Hopefully all of these specs are true and its finally the Attrix, GX2 of Verizonl. bout time.
