Google Maps 5.8 Enhances Places With Photo Uploading, Adding a Place on the Go + More

6

Google has just pushed a pretty nice update to Google Maps that seems to focus mostly on Places. They’ve added the ability to upload a photo of a Place from your device. You’ll also get the ability to add a place on the go if it doesn’t exist in Google’s directory. Finally, they’ve added My Places which allows you to save your favorite places and view places you’ve recently viewed. Pretty decent stuff overall. Grab it in the market now.

  2. Was the ability to check into Google+ through Places available before the update? If not, you can now!

    1. I am pretty sure it was.

  3. By the time they’re done with add-ons, will you still be able to use Google Maps for, say, maps?

  4. I wish these add ons would be separate app installs so I could decide which one I want, or don’t want. Google Maps is now my largest memory hog, and still no app2sd. Even bigger than Adobe Flash. My N1memory is getting squeezed away by Google.
