Phantip: More Google Music Invites Pouring Out To Users Everywhere

32

Happy evening to everyone! Just wanted to let everyone on Phandroid know that we’ve been receiving a megaton load of Phantips in our email inbox. So what’s got everyone in such an uproar? No, it’s not that annoying ad pop-up from our homepage. It’s that many of our readers are receiving that special email from Google inviting them into the Google Music Beta!

So scour your email and check those spam filters. You definitely don’t want to miss out on something this big.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in. I personally get excited for our readers when I find out they finally get to try out Google’s newest service.]

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.

  1. is it still strickly going out to Xoom (and fake boot id xoom) users or has it expanded beyond that?

    1. expanding beyond that to those who signed up on site. Engadget has story I think

    2. Going out to NON Xoom users! Got a flood of emails today =D

  2. As cool as it is, I’m a pirate D:

  3.  This isn’t fair. How can I get accepted into the Chrome OS Pilot Program but not receive a Music Beta invite?! And to top it all off, I still didn’t get a invitation to the new facebook email thing.

    1. I think you still win… you got a free netbook while everyone else just got some cloud storage.

    2. Nothing like a sense of entitlement.

  4. I still didn’t get an invite :(

hahahahahha, you da man! (also, I didnt get one D: )

  6. I haven’t gotten mine and I signed up the day it was announced..

  7.  US only?

  8.  I signed up right away after it was announced, still nothin’

  9. my phone shocks my pinky when I hold my nexus one up while charging :+)

  10. I am with Chris on this! I get excited when people get to see and experience great improvements to android/Google.

  11.  I would think that an e-mail from Google wouldn’t go into my spam folder on gmail but maybe I’ll go check now to make sure.

    1.  I was thinking the same thing.

    2.  LoL!! The irony. I should go check before my spam folder deletes it. That would really suck.

  12.  I got mine. Using it now.

  13.  I still got none.

  14.  Please be careful when you say everywhere… Not everybody lives in the US.

    1. Shocking news: U.S.-based sites tend to target U.S.-based audiences.

When I read Die Zeit I don’t all hurt and cry about how it’s geared towards Germans. And if I really found that upsetting, I’d read something else.

      1. Did I cry? Did I complain? Was I upset?
I like reading the news here, but I was just saying that even though this site is based in the US, some people outside the US may find them interesting. “everywhere” can be misinterpreted, because it basically means “everywhere” where it actually read “everywhere in the US” in this post title.

It’s ok of course, I was just saying.
Did you know that a server on the Internet, even if it is physically located in the US, was very likely to be accessible outside the US? Shocking news.

      2.  That’s ridiculous. Google (And Android) is an international / multi-language brand.

Also, you’re comment about being written in English is stupid. The vast majority of the world’s English speaking population lives outside of the US. You guys can’t even spell it properly. :P

      3. Most arrogant/ignorant thing I’ve read all day.

  15. Dear Google,
Thank you for the invite. I feel so special.
    Sincerely,
    Taylor.

  16.  Would love to check my inbox, but being in the UK looks like many other services we’ll be waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

    1. It’s swings and roundabouts, we do have Spotify which they don’t in the US yet.  But I’d still love to get my hand on a Google Music invite!

  17. Apparently Google thinks I own a Motorola Xoom and sent me an invite, but I certainly won’t complain. Might have been because of my trying out Honeycomb on my Nook Color and spoofing the Xoom…

Anyway, I like it so far. It was really easy to set up and works pretty well.

    1. That’s why I got one: Nook Color Honeycomb build spoofing the Xoom in the Market. Actually, I got two: one for each of my google accounts.

  18. Best anti-climax of Google IO Google Music Beta: Lots of cool features, available to US customers only, just like Books, Voice etc…

  19. Music Beta or Amazon Cloud Player better become available in the Netherlands soon!!! I get tired of reading replies about ppl not getting invites…. Heck, at least you can request an invite!

  20.  just got it!
