Verizon stores given the go-ahead to sell Droid Charge today

23

Though the day is winding down, if you can make it out to a Verizon retail store employees have apparently been given the OK to sell the Samsung Droid Charge a day early to customers inquiring about the device. That won’t change the fact that you will have to part ways with $300 worth of your hard earned dough, but if you have been waiting for this handset it will save you the pain of waiting one more night. Who is planning on picking this one up today/tomorrow?

  1.  I am leaning towards getting this device :) Probably tomorrow though!

    1. What about the Play you were considering?

      1. @8147f32687331cb551b02b12deeedc70:disqus  Just because it was different than any phone that i’ve owned and I’ve seen :)Besides I’ve recently got into gaming with PS systems and Xbox
and I love Xbox live on my windows phone so i wanted to give the Play a try!

  2. From all the reviews I’ve watched of this it seems like the major complaints were the plastic design, touchwiz, and browser locking up. I might buy this with a case, replace tw with launcherpro, and use dolphin or opera for the browser. Problems solved!

    1. Froyo 2.2 = EPIC FAIL!

  3.  Ive been waiting awhile for a phone worthy of a 2-year renewal upgrade to lock myself into. This just does NOT cut it.

  4. I like the direction that Samsung is headed with there devices and their new attitude about openess for their handsets/bootloaders.  Had this been out or came out around the same time as the Thunderbold i would have scooped it instead.  As of late ive not been a happy HTC customer, but ill endure for the LTEs.

  5.  Meanwhile those of us that won a Charge in the @droidlanding campaign have not been told when we will actually get a phone….

    1.  Everything I’ve read/been told said “once they are available.” Not an exact date, but I’m hoping maybe next week.

  6. As much as I want to try something other than the TB and hope the 4G connectivity is better, i just can’t bring myself to buy another Samsung phone.  I’m just going to stick it out and wait for the Bionic.

  7.  Not in SE Michigan they haven’t

  8. A Black and Copper metal colored device is sweet looking.

  9.  i like the reviews on this phone.   nice screen, better battery then tb.  32gb card and the screen.  was thinking about the bionic but the delays and getting replaced with another phone. not concerned with dual core just yet.  think this is the phone to get and lock myself into unlimited beforre they tier the data plan.

  10.  I may get it, but I’ll wait a few days to hear what people are saying in teh forums. If the battery life is as bad as the HTC Thunderbolt, it’ll be a must-skip.

  11.  Still running FROYO 2.2 = EPIC FAIL!    5 months with Gingerbread out….. come on Samsung.   If you think I will buy this already outdated phone for $300… you are smoking something. .

  12. Gee the $300 price tag almost correlates with the ram…. 328mb. You folks do appreciate that is not enough ram for newer devices and is a key reason (besides the poor cache management in the firmware). for low benchmark scores.

    1. I see 512 on all the spec sheets I have seen. Pretty average there.

  13. Apparently the full retail price is $570. That sounds much better than $300 for a 2 yr contract!

  14. PEOPLE DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. ALL IT IS A 2010 PHONE WITH LTE. THERE IS NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT THIS AT ALL EXCEPT THE SCREEN. THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND MAKE A QUICK BUCK OFF OF STUPID PEOPLE WHO ALWAYS BUY THE LATEST CELLPHONE AND NEVER REALLY READ SPECS. IF YOU REALLY NEED A PHONE RIGHT NOW THAT IS 4G GET THE HTC THUNDERBOLT!!!

    1. Differant strokes for differant folks. The charge has a better screen, better camera, better battery, and hardware buttons.

    2.  Yes please stick with your Droid X and get stuck with Tier’d 4G plans in June.  ENJOY! lol I will be locked into unlimited

  15. Verizon must think we are fools.  $300 for this phone when you can pick up the Thunderbolt for less through Amazon, etc.  I’m starting to think AT&T might be worth it if the t-mobile merger goes though.

  16. Why is everyone on the thunderbolt train?  I mean the battery life sucks compared to this phone.  Who likes HTC Sense UI?  Ummm No one.  The Charge has alittle more room for downloads and it looks better period.  I picked up my Charge for $249.00 at my VZW store.  Its only $299 if your a noob.   2.2?  Who cares.  2.3 would be nice, but its not much more exciting then 2.2.  Plastic feel to the phone?  Really?  Its light and that is what I like.  99% of people buy a case anyhow.  There are just a lot of people that like to complain about everything.  To bad.  Your missing out on a great phone.
