These Dancing Android Toys Are Awesome [Video]

14

I received this email whilst browsing the Android developers’ sandbox area at Google I/O and I had to drop everything when I saw the video that was included – dancing Android toys! The toys – which can be found in several places (including Dead Zebra) – have been modified for mechanical movement. Arms, head, waist – this is more than just a lone spinning motor, folks. And these little guys have a ton of skill. There are no instruction links, unfortunately, but I’m sure a few of you crafty individuals will find a way to emulate this. Video’s above. [Thanks Tanabata!]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

    1. Rough landing, apparently xD

  3. Until I see a 5 to 6 foot tall android figuring dry humping the T-Mobile girl I will not be satisfied. I have seen it in my dreams and it is sweeeet!

    :) Good day gentelmen.

  4. I don’t like crap like this but I have got to have one.

  5. For anyone wondering, the song is “Shy” by A Sunny Day in Glasgow.

    1. Lol did you use soundhound like i did? ;)

      1. Actually, no – I really like this song and recognized it right away.

  6. So the author thinks someone put little motors inside the toys??? Come on. It’s obvious this was done using stop motion.

    1. @264c10af2ab623a137d9956b3e6d8294:disqus The movements appear far too smooth for stop motion IMO, and though the toy’s arms move out of the box, that’s the only thing that does. They were definitely disassembled at the very least.

    2. @logicman I don’t think so. I saw the guy who made this originally along with a tutorial on how to make them. Not easy, but definitely real.

  8. Haha awesome video!

  9. In ebay it’s around 10 to 20 a pop (without shipping). Probably if you look at the bottom part it says… made in china (or taiwan). I don’t even think all the cables and stuff are included (Modded).  I’d ratter buy one from a Chinese vendor for cheaper. Who knows, maybe they even put all the circuitry inside. Or at least, make the eyes flash. PS: love the video…. which they could walk a bit. lol for cheaper. Who knows, maybe they even put all the circuitry inside. Or at least, make the eyes flash.
