Android 2.3.3 Allegedly Previewed on T-Mobile G2x [Video]

15

T-Mobile confirmed that their newest phone – the T-Mobile G2x – would be getting Gingerbread “very soon”. If this preview build acquired by This Is My Next is anything to go by then it would appear T-Mobile wasn’t the least bit bluffing. They bring us 7 minutes of footage but it really isn’t anything we haven’t seen on other Gingerbread devices. Just know that it’s pretty damn stable and expect T-Mobile to roll it out sometime this month (hopefully within the next two weeks).

PS: I say “allegedly” in the article title because of how easy it is to theme deodexed Android ROMs and change build.prop files. We trust the folks at This Is My Next (some very trusted names in technology media), though, and we’re fairly certain they wouldn’t go through the trouble of faking this just for content’s sake.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. Huh, finally the Optimus 2x fanboys can’t use the fact that Galaxy S II or Nexus S have gingerbread as an excuse for its low benchmark scores :P

    1. You may simply install the Optimus LED app and adjust its brightness : ) I leave my completely off to say battery life!

  3. I hate to say it…but I call bologna. Gingerbread doesn’t have the am/pm next to the clock in the notification bar. I still think we see gingerbread on the g2x by June though.

    1. T-Mobile may have customized the clock. Android 2.2 on the G2x isn’t COMPLETELY stock, if you didn’t know.

      1. Im aware of the faux vanilla android on phones these days. I just don’t see tmobile adding the am/pm….but who knows. Only time will tell.

        1. were u aware that the G2X rom is actually a vanilla themed build of the optimus 2x? The only real similarity to vanilla is that it looks like vanilla android

          1. Hey I am just wondering here if you have any specific website or sources for your last comment of the G2 and the G2x being a skinned version of Sense. (I believe you and it sound very probable, I’m just curious as to where you found that info) Thanks Stevie!

  4. The capacitive buttons on this phone look so annoyingly bright and ugly
I rather go with the Sentation or the SGS 2.
