Murmurs of an Android-Based Walkman Phone Stir Back Up [Sony Ericsson W15]

5

We’ve heard this one before – Sony Ericsson’s looking to introduce a Walkman phone and it looks to be based on Android. This particular model should be called the Walkman W15, but there is no evidence to go on outside of this janky-looking box. It’s not totally out of question to hear Sony Ericsson would want to revive the Walkman brand with Android.

They’ve actually had the hardware and software to support the good-sounding audio that their brand is known for for quite some time. It’d be a smallish device not unlike the Xperia X10 Mini, of course, and – as you’d expect – it won’t be a high-end beast. A processor clocked at 600MHz and a 3.2 megapixel camera are all the specs that could be mustered up for now. [via GMSArena]

  1. Sony better not release a phone with a 600mhz processor. It doesn’t have to be the newest one but I’m sure they could get some old 1ghz Snapdragon processors cheap.

  2. An Android-based update to their X-series Walkman would have been more delicious.

  3. i love SE walkman, with android become great phone

  4. Yea the walkman phones were always awesome quality, im sure they could release a nerfed spec one but it would be great to see it with mid-high end specs.

  5. Who outside of Japan would buy the thing ?
