Vlingo Localizes Application for the United Kingdom

3

The gents at Vlingo have issued an update to their Android application which adds one feature, but a very useful one for those of you ‘cross the pond – localization for UK-based accents. As with any language, different dialect and changes in accents from region to region is common and a voice recognition application like Vlingo may not work as well for British english-speaking folks as it does for those of us in the Americas. If you were holding off on Vlingo for this very issue then go and grap your free upgrade in the Android market now. [via Androinica]

  1. I say, what spiffing news!

I played around with this a while back and it seemed to cope with my accent fairly well even without this update.

  2. So now, “So I tell the swamp donkey to sock it before I give her a trunky in the tradesman’s entrance and have her lick me yarbles!” will be within Vlingo’s grasp! Bloody brilliant!

  3. Works way better than google’s own stuff, since they’re being ignorant about the UK after all.
