Motorola XOOM Hack Brings SMS, Voice Calling, And Fixes That Pesky Browser Agent Issue

7

XDA comes through in the clutch again! This time, they’ve been snipping away at the Motorola XOOM and have graced us with three great hacks in one convenient package. One will let you place calls (but you won’t be able to actually talk to the person you’re talking to… yet), another lets you send SMS messages, and the last one will force the desktop version of any website you go to without having to go into the browser settings and configure it yourself. There’s a package for those who just want the browser fix, but you can get all of it in one using this download. Instructions are at XDA. [via Droid-Life]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. sweet, now it just needs to drop 2-300 bucks in price and I will buy one. Not buying one now for 600 to see it drop to 400 this summer when all the other badass 3.0 tabs come out. Sammy is gonna kill this one

  2. I have been using this for a few days now. This works well and is very easy to do.

  3. I’m curious how the browser reports to the site now… i may have to look at the github and see what was tweaked. I’ve been currious if netflix would “work” if I simply reported back that I was using Chrome on a Windows PC. It’s just flash playback afterall.

    1. it wont work because netflix uses sliverlight

  4. Sammy CANNOT kill this one… This is the developer tablet, no way no how, any other tab can compete in terms of long term support… Got mine last week, since then the iPad has been brought out exactly once, and that’s just to send a text… Speaking of, there are two xooms, the wi-fi and the 3g, alas things that can be done on the 3g, ie rooting for GV , cant be done on the wi-fi just yet… So please make it clear in the post title…

    thanks

  5. the xoom totally sucks
