ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Listed at Best Buy for $400

We’ve been hearing a lot about the Eee Pad Transformer’s availability lately but most of their news has been for folks in Europe. That doesn’t mean they’re sleeping on their United States plans, though. A coming soon page has now been published at major retailer Best Buy’s webiste and it even comes with a price tag that might excite you folks – a mere $400.

I say “mere” because this thing is loaded as far as specs go – a 10.1 inch 1280×800 display, two USB 2.o ports, front and rear cameras, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processor. The fact that it’s a Honeycomb tablet makes everything that much sweeter.

The price is a bit low for its feature set but – as with any of these early listings – it’s never final. (But we’re damn sure hoping it’ll look similar once it eventually makes its way to store shelves.) [via Android Community]

    I know it’s not comparing apples and oranges, since it has 16GB instead of a 32, but still, it’s a nice entry level tablet and if Asus has a solid build, it might make Samsung and Motorola’s price points seem a bit high. At $100 cheaper than the closest iPad, it might find some converts there as well.

    1. I really want a pen as well. I have missed having one ever since my old Toshiba tablet PC. Still, the Flyer is going to depend on HTC Sense apps for any pen stuff so that means just the few apps that they put out for it and no non-Sense ports will support pen input for a while. Kinda puts a damper on it for me. I might just get something cheaper like this for now and then in a year or so when all of this mobile tablet stuff starts to trickle up to the full tablet PCs I may get a new one when Win8 comes out in a couple of years.

Whether the price was wrong or the fact that it stated it had a “4 in 1 media” adapteir of failed to mention that, like the Xoom, the card slots won’t work till Google soprt out the Honeycomb code is anybodys guess. —– And those are just the things I immediately noticed !

  61. If only Asus didn’t have terrible Customer service and Technical Support. When you buy electronics… there are other things you must consider besides physical appearance and specifications. I was on hold for over 4 hours trying to get someone on the phone at Asus, to RMA my POS motherboard I bought from them…. I had already filled out an RMA request form… and tried the Live Chat service (waited over an hour for someone to connect and chat with me…. never happened) once I managed to get someone on the phone… it was a really rude lady with a strong southern accent (hard to understand) she questioned my technical aptitude and then my ability to troubleshoot simple hardware/software issues (with a very irritated tone) and offered me no efficient solution or advice for my issue. While on the phone with her, I managed to get some information out of her about why it took so long to get someone on the phone/chat service or even a reply to my emails (Which never happened either) Apparently all the customer service / technical support for western europe, mexico, usa, and canada is provided by their 2 call centers located here in the USA…. where their total combined staff totals 20 people (20 PEOPLE!!!!!!)

    I used to trust “brand names” like ASUS Tek….. boy howdy…. I will never do that again….

    Just something for you guys to think about when shopping for new gear!     Problem with the Xoom is that its to much money when sitting next to the ipad. The non-tech savvy dont look at the Xoom, they just see iPad b/c they are brainwashed by Apple and thats all they know. But I bet for a $100 cheaper people will at least pick up up and play with it (then change their mind about buying the iPad).
