Things We Missed, You Shouldn’t [Feb. 25]

As another week ends, the HTC Thunderbolt is still without a release date. At least the Motorola XOOM on Verizon and Motorola Atrix 4G launched without a hitch. In the midst of all of this plenty of juicy tidbits remain. Find here a few quick takes from around the Androidosphere.

    FOR SAMSUNG EPIC USERS-

    The Froyo upgrade on the samsung website is safe. This came from 2 sprint tech supporters I just talked to. The problem was the OTA upgrade

    CONSUMER REPORTS WON’T RECOMMEND VERIZON’S IPHONE DUE TO APPLE IPHONE PROBLEMS
    Avoiding returns of the IPhone is a strong reason for delaying the release of the Thunderbolt since today Consumer Reports said it does not recommend the IPhone on Verizon because it has the same antenna problem the original IPhone 4 had. Therefore, Verizon must have a lot of unhappy IPhone customers that they want to stick with that phone. SO, Verizon is sticking it to the Thunderbolt “wanabees” as well as the IPhone “has beens” Verizon is quite a tirant of a company,

    @bill
    I am on verizon and honestly really like it. Reception and all. A bit expensive but I guess its the price for piece of mind. The thing is that if someone walks into a verizon store and has no idea what they want/need they are in a sense phucked. Its rare to find a rep that actually recommends whats BEST for the customer rather than their own pocketbook. I used to work for VZW for 4 years. I know the in and outs. I feel so bad when I go in there and see people getting SCREWED by some 21 year old kid slanging phones.

    Verizon has pulled all of their ThunderBolt ads from their YouTube channel. This can’t be good.

    Um okay what about the OTA froyo update for verizon’s samsung fascinate? Huh how come nobody mentions that anymore?

    I don’t see an Incredible S in the UK… because it’s called the Desire S and it’s not shipping from Voda http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobile-phone/htc-desire-s
    do you never check your sources?

  • Adrian

    @bill you’re a douche who knows nothing. No one wants to buy the vPhone because they know the iphone 5 will be announced in about 3-4 months. Apple and Verizon released that crappy phone as a stop-gap measure to get more customers and to test out the qualcomm chip before it goes into the iPhone 5. Issues with the iSHeep phone have nothing to do with Thunderbolt. That has its own issues like a full drain on battery after 2-3 hours of being left on and bad reception. They’re working through firmware issues to rectify the situation.

    Next time know what you’re talking about before you shoot off your mouth, idiot and blast Verizon for the hardware developer’s issues.

    I wish someone were able to compete with Verizon. I would change in a heartbeat if I could.

    Camelsnot: You are passing rumor as fact. That battery issue is just speculation. Don’t believe everything you read on Engadget. They like to post sensationalist articles to start troll wars.

    “Samsung may use their own chips in Google TV ”
    If it is based on ARM that would be interesting. There’s a reason why google TV’s use Intel instead of ARM. Unlike current arm cpu’s, Atom can decode two 1080p video streams at the same time.
