Robo Defense HD Breathes New Life Into an Aging Classic

11

Robo Defense is one of the oldest games on the Android market, and yet, it remains one of the best. Since the G1 launched, it has been a mainstay on many Android users’ phones, and even with the crowded competition other developers have brought in the form of tower defense games, Robo Defense has remained a true competitor.

That experience is about to get even better as the developer wants to inject new life into the game – they’re introducing an HD version. For now, you can only check out a limited beta that affords the player one map and 11 difficulties. When we’d be able to see this game hasn’t been mentioned, and no word was given on whether or not existing paying customers would be able to get the upgrade for free. Download it in the Android market now. [via Droid Gamers]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. If you download the HD version, do you have to start from scratch?

I stopped playing when I had to start over.

  2. Just downloaded it and it’s showing my stats from the lite version so I guess you don’t have to start over from scratch.

  3. Hopefully they make a version for Honeycomb. Honeycomb is going to need more tablet app/gaming support before I jump on the wagon.

  4. It starts with whatever stats you have built up on RoboDefense FREE…

  5. Works beautifully on Nook Color!

  6. I hate you, Vlad. Lol. I want a Nook color.

  7. It is very pretty but I guess I would have liked some alteration to the game itself as well.

  8. Exactly the same game as the original. Better not make me pay again for this, considering I haven’t been able to play it at all on my tab. Especially when games like fruit ninja work across all devices and scale themselves correctly …

  9. Plays great on Notion Ink Adam! beat the first round after having playing for such a long time!

  10. Um… the fact that you think this is “one of the best games on the market” is a really good example of what’s wrong with the market.

This game is crap by comparison to dozens of tower defense games on the iphone side of the world. It’s even crap compared to several of the tower defense ports.

  11. I really hope they put a “skip” button in this time. The game is too slow without it.
