Those in the UK can now opt-in for a Nexus S thanks to retailer Carphone Warehouse letting the floodgates open for preorder. £549.99 will get you the device SIM-Free for use on any carrier (and it’s likely what the PAYG carriers will be offering it for), but if you don’t mind committing to a two year contract you can get it for free at £35 per month with any carrier. £20 tariffs are available, but be expected to pay close to £250 for the device upfront. Take a look at the list of other configurations you can setup for this device at Carphone Warehouse’s website. [via Pocket-Lint]

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. UHH Why is it so expensive in the UK?

    £550 ~ $860 (UK)
    $530 (US)

I might as well get it from ebay US with international shipping fee and it would still be cheaper.

  2. Wooowww dont buy from in UK … use borderlinx and you can get it for about £150 – £200 cheaper!!!

Dont understand why they would charge so much just because its in the uk!

  3. @AC

I know, US getting it for around £335, why are we having to pay over £200 more for the same phone..

  4. This is crazy.Count me out.Never liked samsung products anyway.I’ll wait for HTC.

  5. this is just another case of Foreign company’s ripping off britain, its happend with nearly every console & now phones

  6. Well Carphone enjoy all 6 preorders that you get lol.

  7. Yes, that’s truly an insane and disgusting price in the UK. That’s a 34% hike over the cost of a US unlocked one. Why is the UK such an appallingly bad place to buy gadgets?

Personally, i’ve not bought a single gadget in the UK in the past decade, thanks to frequent trips to Hong Kong and the US on business, and so saving a lot of money from rip-off Britain prices.

Anyway, since it’s unlocked, grab it from a reseller from the UK, HK or elsewhere, and save a lot of money, even after the grey-import mark-up.
