CyanogenMod 6.1 Goes Stable; 7 Probably Around the Corner

Cyanogen and company have been working to move the 6.1 update from release candidate to stable status, and they’ve achieved just that over the weekend. There are a few new devices supported and a whole slew of changes for everyone to sink their teeth into. A list of those changes can be had at  GitHub, and you should be able to find the download link at either XDA or Cyanogen’s forums, though the best place to check remains to be TeamDouche’s mirrors. We can only imagine that Cyanogen and crew have their eyes set on Android 2.3 going forward, which would push the project from CM6 to CM7. Unfortunately they won’t be able to get started on the undertaking until Google releases the source code, which very well could happen after Gingerbread’s first Nexus One rollout in the next few weeks.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  2. downloading to my D1 now. Pretty funny considering motorola is still testing 2.2.1.

  3. I take if I don’t want to lose Sense on my Desire, CM is out of question.

  4. @Terepin yeah, CM is stiock and lacks the lameness that is Sense.

  5. @Terepin
Yes, CM is stock Android+ ADW.Launcher!

  6. if you like HTC Sense UI try a desireHD or desireZ ROM

Yeah, I’m waiting on that MyTouch 4G support as well. It’s similar to the G2 with an addition of FFC, so it shouldn’t be too hard to add support for it I’m guessing. Maybe with 2.3 it will be easier to add support mt4g and we’ll see it in a month or two

  8. Flashed it. Trackball colors don’t work properly. Anyone in the same situation?

  9. downloaded on my OGD and works great

  10. [8] Depends what you mean – I have the colors set right and first flash is always white, then in the set color (N1)
I have a problem with sound notification, sometimes my phone just doesn’t beep on received SMS, even though I don’t have it silenced. Only trackball blinks.

  11. just installed it. Though I don’t see much visually that’s different other than the status screen.
6.0 was really fast on my Droid1.

I’m using Open Home, but ADW is also very good and fast.

    I have no sound problem.
So you’ve actually guessed what I’ve denominated as a problem. The first color being white. I took that as a bug. Maybe that’s the way it is supposed to work.

  13. Can anyone tell me if CM can be installed on D2/DX? Heard no. Then yes with bootstrapper. Thanks in advanced.

  14. Seth, I don’t think there are ROM’s for Dx or 2, but Koush’s bootstrap will “root” Dx, for sure, maybe D2. Supported phones for CM are listed in the forums: forums.cyanogen.com
Developers for CM work with phone’s they own and can experiment on. Check out the community there to see if phone is listed, you may find like minded folks and maybe a developer willing to take on your phone…

  15. Cant wait to upgrade to the new rom boom
