Droid Pro on Sale and Shipping Early

November 18th release date? Pre-order as of today? Does Verizon even remember the press release they just issued? Apparently not, as the Motorola Droid Pro is up for sale on their website, and several buyers have received shipping confirmation after clicking “Add to cart” and completing their order. Might just be a leaky hole soon to be plugged, or it could be another case of Verizon flubbing up the whole anticipation and hype thing. If you are wanting one of these jump on it quick and you might not have to wait another day.

  1. RIP Blackberry

  2. Is the same thing working for Droid 2 Global? I see that you can add that to cart and there is no “released on…” date on the front page.

  3. my order for the pro, placed this morning, has a status of “wait”- no shipping confirmation for me.

  4. Ordered the white Global 2 WE this am. Already shipped and set to arrive tomorrow.

  5. the back of the phone looks tight but no deal. Im not a business man

  6. not that i could buy it right now or anything

  7. I’m gonna wait for the Amazon sales on this thing. Surely, it will happen.

  8. eh, I wanted it but the Gingerbread requirements need a 3.5 screen and this is only 3.1 :(

  9. Guys this is very specific. Verizon is calling this an iconic device and are having a Pre Sales event and you can get for $64 from Verizon legitimately, check this article: http://exm.nr/8Y39Ej

  10. Uh, there are no Gingerbread requirements.

  11. My Droid 2 Global is arriving tomorrow. I also plan on buying the Droid Pro.

  12. not to brag but $64?
I got mine for a net of 3 bucks

$279 (price with 2 year contract)
    – 100 (instant online rebate for business customers)
    – 26 (15% off based on my business having 7 lines)
amount charged to my monthly bill is ~153
    – 150 (bill credit for online business purchase)
nets to my bill $3 dollars.

i guess getting nailed an extra 15$ a month for data has it’s merrits- laughing. (still they come out ahead but at least i get some of it back sometimes)

  13. Did anyone have trouble getting a confirmation when they ordered? I ordered last night and all i got was an email that said:

    From: [email protected]
    To: me
    Subject: (No Subject)

Then the email was just blank.

I went to the support forums and another person had the same issue about 15 hours earlier in the day, but no update.

  14. I’ve been seeing this show up all over the place

    * Minimum hardware requirements for Android 3.0 devices are: 1GHZ CPU, 512MB or RAM, displays from 3.5” and higher. (We all, of course, heard that Android handsets with 2GHz CPU’s are coming)
    * New 1280×760 resolution available for the devices with displays of 4” and higher. (Anyone thinking about Android tablets now? )
    * Completely revamped user interface. If you want to get a feeling of what Android 3.0 Gingerbread UX is like, check out the Gallery App on Nexus One. The same overall feel, light animated transitions, etc. Natively, through all the UI.
    * Android’s split into 2 branches becomes official. 3.0 for top of the line/high end devices. Cheap, low-end mass market handsets will keep Android 2.1/2.2

  15. I placed my order on the 8th and got a confirmation email showing my new call plan, and cost of the Pro after rebate/discounts.

Stated ESTIMATED ship date 11/10 (today), and a shipping confirmation will be sent. But VZ reports order is stuck in “pending”. I suspect they messed up the order fulfillment and release date. anyone get a fedex tracking number yet?

for some reason the vz employees act as if they think its shipping rather than mention the release date. Either they weren’t trained on this or some are due to trickle out.

anyone else run in to this?

  16. I like the look of the Droid Pro, and if the keyboard is anything like the Blackberry, it should be a very good alternative. I am not a fan of the original Motorola Droid’s fold out keyboard, so I am anxious to see how the Droid Pro’s keyboard feels and works. I am not blown away by the specs on the Droid Pro, it seems like a limited upgrade from previous Droids. The internationalization is a nice to have, but really not something I would use regularly.

  17. Mine shipped 11/10 AM and will be delivered today 11/12…

  18. I ordered mine at midnight on the 9th and received it on Thursday morning the 11th. I like it…I’m a former Blackberry Curve user that switched to Android when the HTC Incredible came out. I love the Incredible but the virtual keyboard still kicks my butt so I had to get something I could actually type on. The Pro keyboard isn’t exactly like Blackberry and does feel a little strange at first. But after a day using it I’m jamming on the keyboard one handed, NO ERRORS so I’m happy. And the Android parts of the Pro are awesome. So for me It’s a good choice.
