AT&T U-Verse App for Android is Out

AT&T’s finally let out their U-verse app for Android users, according to a press release issued by the carrier today. On all of their Android devices, you’ll be able to set your recording schedule  and view the slate of shows coming up from anywhere in the world as long as you have the app installed. You’ll even be able to download select TV shows and watch them right on your Android handset.

AT&T users with their U300 or higher package can take advantage of all of these features for free. (Sorry, guys. It looks like you’re out of luck if you’re U-verse TV and Internet users, but own a cell phone on a different carrier.) We don’t know when it’ll be out just yet, but we can’t imagine it’ll be too long (what with all of those neat Android handsets by Motorola making their way to the demo tables.) Press details below.

AT&T Expands U-verse Mobile to Android Devices

U-verse Mobile Now Available for U-verse TV Customers with the Samsung Captivate, HTC Aria; Coming to the Motorola BRAVO, Motorola FLIPSIDE

DALLAS, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ — AT&T* today launched AT&T U-verse® Mobile for several Android devices(TM), including the Samsung Captivate(TM), HTC Aria, and coming soon, the Motorola BRAVO™ and Motorola FLIPSIDE™. U-verse Mobile is available today for AT&T Mobility customers on Android Market(TM), and is another example of how AT&T is delivering more TV content to customers across multiple devices and platforms.

With the Android device launches, U-verse Mobile is available on four mobile operating systems and will continue to expand to more devices in the future. U-verse Mobile is an app that lets U-verse TV subscribers browse the U-verse TV program guide, schedule and manage their DVR recordings, and for subscribers with qualifying TV plans, download hit TV shows over any Wi-Fi connection, and watch them on their qualifying smartphone from anywhere.

“We continue to innovate and integrate across devices, and we’re proud to bring the popular U-verse Mobile app to Android users,” said Jeff Weber, vice president of video services, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “We’re already ahead of our competitors in delivering TV content across screens, and we’ll keep focusing on bringing content to customers in new ways.”

To enjoy U-verse Mobile content, you can browse or search a library of downloadable shows, and select which series or specific episode you want to download. The content is downloaded to your mobile phone over a Wi-Fi connection. All AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet customers have home Wi-Fi installed as part of their service and get access to AT&T’s entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost.

The app is available to all U-verse TV customers, and the ability to download and watch select content is available for customers that subscribe to the U300 package or higher. U-verse customers can upgrade their TV packages at any time with the Account Manager app on channel 9910 or at AT&T U-verse.

AT&T continues to expand TV watching to the devices that matter most to you, with hit TV shows available on U-verse TV, U-verse Online, U-verse TV on Xbox 360, and several smartphones with U-verse Mobile.

U-verse Mobile is the latest way that AT&T is mobilizing everything that’s important to customers – their favorite content, apps, entertainment and social networks. AT&T today delivers the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network as well as the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network.

AT&T U-verse TV is the only 100 percent Internet Protocol-based television (IPTV) service offered by a national service provider, making AT&T U-verse one of the most dynamic and feature-rich services available today. AT&T U-verse TV ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction in the North Central, South and West Regions,” according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Residential Television Service Provider Satisfaction Studies(SM). • karl

So, I’m going to need someone to make this apk available for me to download, since I’ve got verizon.

  • jim

Would it be possible to modify the build.prop on a rooted phone to trick the market into thinking I have one of the phones on the at&t list?

  • BenR

Yeah, I’ll have to add my voice to the chorus of this sucks .. some of us like U-Verse but hate AT&T wireless. :/

  • Justin

(Sorry, guys. It looks like you’re out of luck if you’re U-verse TV and Internet users, but own a cell phone on a different carrier.)

    very lame

  • Paul T

Yeah.. disappointed here as well. Just because I don’t have AT&T wireless doesn’t mean I’m not an AT&T customer with U-Verse… ugh.

  • Adam

I just started a thread in xda developers and received the apk file already. Just installed it on my Verizon HTC Incredible and it loaded up perfectly. The thread is in HTC Incredibl Themes and Apps…Good Luck

this would be nice to have. while i can somewhat understand what some of their reasoning may have been, i have no intention of leaving sprint just for this app.

  • ToastnJam

The app won’t work if you don’t actually subscribe to Uverse TV.

  • michael

XDA had the app available for download. I have it and it works and i have Sprint!

  • RuDdOgG

+1 on apk on xda – I just installed on my Incredible, works great!

  • bjh2379

    Worked perfect on my vibrant!!!!

  • Maenxe

    XDA FTW! Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812546

I just installed it and it works fine on my T-Mobile MyTouch Slide running CM6. All of my roommates have Android phones too, so I’ll try it out on stock G1s and a stock Samsung Epic 4G tonight.

Raspberries to AT&T for only releasing this for *their* Android phones. It really burns us U-Verse customers with other carriers.

  • lembowski

    Not available for non-att wireless.
    Well let’s see.

I have 2 att business lines, 2 att personal land lines, att uverse – cummulatively spend over $450/mo with ATT.

I am Not going to switch to att wireless, but I can change all of those landlines from ATT and switch my Cable TV and 2 DSL Internet connections to someone else.
