Play Poker for Real Money on Android, Soon, Thanks to Full Tilt [UPDATE: Now with Video]

23

Something neat out of Android Forums today. Spotted by Moondrifter, Full Tilt is working to bring Android’s first poker game to that will allow you to play for real money against real people. The name of the app will reportedly be named “Rush Poker,” named after the game type on their site for those who need to shuffle some chips in a hurry. It’s the perfect game type to feature on a mobile phone considering how scarce time might be in any given situation.

A statement by Full Tilt:

It gives Android devices another advantage as Apple refuses to allow real money gambling via its App Store

According to Poker Jolt – the outlet that broke the news – Rush Poker has entered a public, yet limited beta for some of their mobile phone users. I’ve never been one to gamble – partially because I suck at it – but if you’re a fan of Full Tilt and you want to earn some real money on the go, you’ll want to keep an eye out for Rush Poker.

[UPDATE]: The folks over at Full Tilt hit us up with a link to a little blog post showing off a bit of the beta for Rush Poker. Also revealed is a list of compatible Android 2.2 devices that includes the following handsets:

  • Acer Liquid Stream S110
  • HTC Desire
  • HTC Droid Incredible
  • HTC Evo 4G
  • HTC Google Nexus One
  • HTC Desire HD
  • Motorola Droid 2
  • Motorola Droid Pro / Droid 2 World Edition
  • Motorola Droid X
  • T-Mobile G2

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  2. Sweet!! Can’t wait to d/l this one!

  3. Hey this is some interesting news! Can anyone recommend a current ‘non-gambling’ multiplayer poker app out right now for us poker-scrubs to brush up on?

  4. WOOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Win money from anywhere!

  5. Hope it isn’t rush only.

  6. most poker sites, full-tilt, ultimate bet, etc… have “play chip” modes. so you’re not actually gambling anything. of course the skill level in those games is quite low (since when you run out of “chips” you can just get some more), but it’s great if by “brush up” you just need to get used to the flow of the game and remember what beats what.

once you’re used to the game again you can make a small deposit, usually $10 minimum amount, and buy into a $0.01/0.02 cash game, or a $0.25 or $0.50 sit-n-go.

  7. +1….what Greg said.

  8. I want a pokerstars app

  9. I gamble online (thru a VPN). Not sure if I want an app on my phone whose use is a violation of Federal law…

  10. You can play for fake money in the Android application, or so my friend tells me.

  11. Finally!!! And for anyone who doesn’t know playing online poker DOES NOT violate any federal law, read the laws and understand them! It violates some state laws, but very few.

  12. @Nickarus

Live Holdem is a great, play money app on the Market.

  13. @ Nickarus I like World Series of Poker Legend. There’s a couple of annoying features like the stupid popup-players and the betting wheel could be better, but the gameplay is pretty decent.

Also, Red Poker Club is ok.

  14. o no, i got a phone call on the flop!

  15. Looks like it might rush poker only, which makes sense. But I hope they have live games too and if not tournaments at least Sit n Go.

  16. Great idea but please not “Rush Poker” only!

  17. Yay now I can lose all my beer money from anywhere :D

  18. Not that I care about this app, by why no support for the OG Droid? It’s on 2.2 too.

  19. Zynga poker would be nice aswell!

  20. Zynga isn’t real money, is it?

  21. There is now a video of that new Android Rush Poker Mobile here – http://www.pokerroomcompare.com/androidpoker/

  22. I think this is great. Thing is that you won’t even have to play for real money if you don’t want to. When you get more comfortable with how you are playing you can switch over to the real deal. Also with the advent of RUSH poker this is absolutely perfect for smart phones, I mean perfect.

  23. Just lost 40 bucks while at work with this app
