RadioShack Selling the T-Mobile G2 October 3rd for $149.99?

Some of you who pre-ordered your T-Mobile G2 from T-Mobile themselves will be receiving them before the weekend kicks off. For everyone else, you’re either going to have to wait until October 6th or bank on this internal screenshot from Radio Shack sent from an anonymous tipster that says they’ll be offering it October 3rd (which is a Sunday) for $149.99 if you’re a new customer or $199.99 if you’re upgrading.

We’re not sure how they got the green light to sell this phone that early (especially ahead of Best Buy), but considering that truckloads of the G2 are leaving warehouses and headed to stores already, we can’t imagine they won’t be ready to deliver three days ahead of schedule. We’ll be calling our local Radio Shack store shortly to see if they know anything about this. You might want to gear up to do the same. Click on the picture to read the full text (it’s highly illegible otherwise), or just wander below as we’ve gone through the trouble of transcribing the important bits for you.

The new T-Mobile G2 is almost here!! The G2 (1701089) is T-Mobile’s first HSPA+ smartphone, leveraging the new HSPA+ network (available in select markets) that connects you at 4G speeds. Starting Sunday, October 3, you will be able to offer the G2 to your customers!

Overview: The G2 includes an 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7230 processor, and it comes with a 3.7″ WVGA touch-panel screen, 4GB of internal memory, and an external microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB cards (an 8GB card is included). Other features include integrated voice action, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus, and a 720p HD video recorder.

Price: At launch, the G2 will be available for $149.99 on new two-year activations and $199.99 on two-year upgrades, FlexPay, and add-a-line activations. Android data plan activation is required.

The "Google Phone" sounded too awesome to pass up, so I bought a G1. The rest is history. And yes, I know my name isn't Wilson.

  1. I talked to my local radio shack and they confirmed the Oct 3rd availability… he expected that they would get them in hand Friday or Saturday, in time for Sunday.

  2. Given the slightly lower specs on this phone, I think all outlets should have it for $150. $200 is just going to turn people off who can wait a month and get the MyTouch HD which so far seems to out spec this one or match it in every category according to rumors.

  3. Just called my store in Oregon. Confirmed Sunday. Only downside is there is some rebate so more money up front. *drools*

  4. Sturatt…where in Oregon,I live outside Salem. Rebate? at the Shack? How much?

  5. So I called my radioshack in Houston,

Confirmed for Sunday, but out of contract is supposed to be $549????

    Slightly suprised..

  6. I work at a radio shack and i can tell you right now there is no mail in rebate of any sort.

  7. What’s the deal with $199? I thought the Shack was selling the G2 for $149 with two year contracts, not for NEW contracts only.

    Weak.

  8. Let me set the record straight;

    1) The phone has 800mhz. that does NOT mean its slower. Based on the tests, the phone is faster than the following:
    -Nexus One
    -Droid X
    -Samsung vibrant

    2) Just because radio shack will be offering the phone for 149$, doesnt mean you’ll be getting a better deal. Your contract may include higher fee’s for some services that others would not encounter when you purchase directly through tmobile or best buy and which may end up costing you more in the long run.

    3) this phone uses new processor technology not seen in any phone. The screen is comparible to the iphones retina, or the samsungs OLED. The price is right for the type of device you are purchasing.
