By Is this the Droid you were looking for? We know Verizon’s bringing out an R2-D2 special edition of the Droid 2 in September they announced a couple of days ago (or, as I call it, the R2-Droid2) but we’ve already seemingly got our first shot of the device in the wild. Its appearance resembles the outer shell of that of the actual R2-D2 robot from the Star Wars films, which is cool if you’re a fan, but would you carry one of these around for the sake of it?
Oh, and guess what? The regular Droid 2 is officially out today! The presale started yesterday – your device is probably already shipping if you ordered online – but you can walk into any Big Red corporate location and snag one up for yourself today. After that, how about some quality time with the Droid 2 section at AndroidForums.com? I’m sure some of the folks over there have the same Droid you’re looking for.
My 12 year old niece could do a better paint job! It’s probably going to flake off just like the camera button anyways!

Awesome. I would definitely buy an R2-Droid2 if given the choice between the two. Nothing like standing out a little. My ringtone would have to be the Star Wars theme with Artoo beeping as the notification tone.
I might have to give up my N1 for this phone. It is so damn geeky it is cool. I hope there is a R2-D2 Live Wallpaper and sounds that comes with it.
Looks like something that will be cool for about two weeks, then ashamed of being seen with it in public after that. Or you could bring it out once a year at Comic Con.

Its not paint its extruded plastics that are that color and my camera button is fine after six months don’t leave it in your pocket when you do a wash
